When I check my contacts, my email gets pushed to my phone...
Everytime I go into my contacts to call someone, my iPhone retrieves my emails. Any idea as to what would cause this? I have the iPhone 3GS ver 3.1.2. I have tried to do a factory restore but the problem still exists. I'm completely lost.
Just tried mine.
All set to manual.
Mixture of CalDav, Exchange(e-mail, calendar and contacts) and IMAP email accounts
I sent myself a test e-mail, made sure it was on my IMAP server then checked my contacts.
The device did a refresh (to check the Exchange contacts) but did not push the e-mail to me.
Opened e-mail app and the phone manually fetched the e-mail.

Everything that you have checked in your icloud settings will be shared between devices using the same Apple ID. If you don't want icloud to share that information, then simply turn off that process under settings > icloud

thxbefore i gave the phone, i did 'restore to factory setting' and put his new sim card into the phone.
but then i logged into the phone with my apple ID (he is simply using the phone as a regular phone without 3g, so he only uses it on wi-fi) to download apps...
so he is using it as a 'new phone' with all his contacts etc on it, is there any way he could have still accessed my stuff while my icloud was activated?
i should say that it is not technically a 'friend' but i sold the phone to him, so i'm curious what information he had access to while i had my icloud activated...

When I sign off on yahoo email. I get a blank page on every tab if any are opened. I have to exit out & restart firefox . It does not happen w/any other browser. I have no malware or viruses. Please advise.
Actually, it's not obvious & common sense would dictate that users' bookmarks would not be left stuck to random computers even once they've logged out of the account. No one wants that if it's a public work computer or if they're traveling & use an Internet cafe. As I am not the only one who has noticed this issue or had bookmarks disappear/be deleted, in addition, common sense would indicate it's not really a very good system. And carrying around a flashdrive to run Firefox off of it is a good solution? Really? Just curious why a useful feature such as being able to login & use your preferences & bookmarks & then logging out removes your preferences when you're gone hasn't been developed. Yahoo keeps my preferences when I logout (it's called My Yahoo!). Maybe a My Firefox or My Chrome solution could be developed.

When I edit an email address in the Contacts App, and the type the Contact's name in the Mail App, I get both the old and new contacts. Why don't I get only the updated email address?
Mail remembers previously used email addresses for a period of time. Those you no longer use will eventually disappear. After you have sent one or two emails to the new address the old address will move below the new one. Then after a period of time not sending to the old address it will disappear. Patience is the key.

When i send a contact by email the email is received but without the contact info.
Can anyone help. it seems to work ok when i MMS but not on the email. the email is received but does not contain the contact info.
I have the same problem. Sought to insert a pdf into Apple Mail after editing a form pdf and only the blank form shows. I didn't use Preview to generate the form, just Acrobat. And, the filled in form inserts perfectly into an email when I use Outlook for Mac. Problem only with Apple Mail.

I have recently been experiencing problems with my iPhone and iCloud backup. My iPhone tells me I have not backed it up to iCloud in over 4 weeks, when in actually it was 2 days ago. So I plug my phone into my laptop and click - 'Back up to iCloud'. It runs and when complete, it tells me 'Your iPhone has never been backed up to iCloud.' Even I after I have just completed the function.
Can someone help shed light on what the problem is?To backup to iCloud, you actually backup on your phone, not your computer. To backup to iCloud, you MUST be connected to wifi. While on wifi, go to Settings> iCloud (sign into iCloud if you haven't yet)> Sorage & Backup> Backup Now. You get 5GB of complimentary iCloud storage. For most people, that's enough. iCloud backup stores app data (game progress, login, etc), contacts, calendars, notes, and photos. The apps themselves and your music can be retrieved in the iTunes and app stores for free again by going to the purchased area.

Why doesn't my exchange email get pushed to my iphone?
I have tried EVERYTHING to resolve this and nothing seems to work. Deleted all of the email accounts, set my options to push, checked my notification settings, reloaded my exchange account, restarted the phone, restored the phone, restored it as a new phone, I've been to the genius bar, called support....pretty frustrating. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Just to be clear, I do recieve my emails but only when I open the mail app, otherwise the phone will not notify me of new emails.

I have the Same Problem. My company uses Exchange 2010 with the latest update and we have about a thousand iOS devices that use push without a problem.
I used my iPad as well an then a couple of weeks ago it stopped working. I tried everything. Reset the iPad with or without backup, only add the exchange account, delete the exchange sync profile on the server... On another iPad it worked fine, so I got apple to replace mine, and now it worked for a couple of hours with the new one.
When I turned it on this morning though, it stopped working again, it won't even check the mails every 15 minutes. I am completely list, and do not understand what is wrong there. Apple themselves did not units and it although they assumed it is caused by the exchange configuration, as my google exchange account pushes mals with no problem.
The exchange admin, of course says it works with 1000 other devices so the problem must be the software or hardware of the iPad. Pushing the same account in my android phone works fine.
If anybody has an idea please let me know. -
Why doesn't .mac email get pushed to iPhone?
So I seet up a .mac account. But the email isn't pushed to my iPhone. I only get it if I chck mail on the iPhone.
Is .mac email pushed?I access my .Mac account on my iPhone and a free Yahoo Push IMAP account and there isn't much difference except for the .Mac account having to be checked for new messages but there have been a number of reports here indicating that Yahoo's free Push account does not always Push or work properly. In addition, Yahoo's free Push IMAP account includes advertisements with sent messages - not good.
There are a number of benefits included with a .Mac account - especially with the changes and improvements just announced so you may want to rethink using a Yahoo account instead just due to Push.

When i sync my iphone, purchased songs gets back on my phone
Even though I have deleted the songs on my phone, every single time I sync my phone, the songs reappear.
How can I prevent this from happening? So I only fet my assigned playlist synced.

Although the title may not seem to address your issue, the following Knowledge Base article provides some good information on orphaned files and how to troubleshoot your issue:

Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
Restore using iTunes.

HT1711 When I download music, does the charged get added to my phone bill?
I'm a little confused as to how this works. I'm not sure if the charge of my downloads go toward my phone bill or goes to some other account. Will I see the charges on my debit card? How does it work?
They go to whatever card you have on your itunes account.

Ok, my phone has separated many of my contacts into two entries. One for the phone number and a separate one for the email address. Also, my Yahoo account seems to have gotten all my phone emails and ALL of my phone numbers. I cleared up the Yahoo pretty much but not sure I I am for the task of manually reorganizing my contacts list and afraid it will not prevent it from happening again.
I also noticed while I was on phone with ATT that the box in ITunes to check off sync with Yahoo would flicker on and off if I expanded the link that said 'Devices'
Any clues what may be going on? What can I do to correct this easily? Thanks! -
Sending contacts via email does not work, Vcards are garbled
When I send a contact via email, it looks like it's going to send a standard vcard, but when it comes through, it's mostly giberish. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else have this problem?
I'm wondering if there isn't some corruption with the address book database on the iPhone. I have a feeling that if you removed and resync'd contacts it might fix it. I'll check back in tomorrow morning to see what the results of mailing a newly created contact were. I'm being told it's bedtime.

I have a Canon MX882 printer and more often than note get an error message that says "Printer not Connected." When I check the printer itself, I get confirmation that the access point is connected. I tried reloading the software and that seemed to have solved the problem for awhile but I'm experiencing the same problem. Any ideas what is causing this?
Did you delete all receipts with iDVD in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder before installing the new copy? If not then do so and delete the new application also.
