When i choose a song for my ipod it stalls or changes to the next song
Whenever i play a song it will freeze for about 5 seconds then put me back to the main menu, but if i then go and pick a song again it will work fine. Sometimes it even plays the song after the song i picked. I really need help here it makes picking songs a hassle...thanks for any replies
Could you give a few details, ie, was your iPod working fine before, what is your iPod model and had you updated the software to 2006-03-23 right before the problem occured?
We are a good number to have experienced the problem after updating the software on a 40G 4th gen Ipod.

My IPod will not automatically advance to the next song.
IPod will not automatically advance to the next song. I have updated and restored. The Shuffle has the two arrows crossing which I believe means it should be advancing. Any suggestions?
While playing any song on your iPod, tap the artwork to bring up the scrubber bar and additional controls. On the left hand side is a option for repeat (the right hand side features the Shuffle feature). You want to make sure this icon is white (meaning it is set to Off). If it isn't, tap it either one or two times to change its current setting.
Any luck there?

When I am editing information is there a keyboard shortcut to advance to the next song without using the mouse to click "next"?
Thank you so much. I've been trying to find a way to do this for a long time!

I downloaded a song that stops at 1:04 and jumps to the next song, as if it's over. This song was in the middle of several songs, but this is the only one that is incomplete. Can I download this song again for free, or do I have to purchase again?
If you live in a Region that allows re-downloading Music...

I have purchased and downloaded the Now Christmas album to my iTunes libary and all but 1 song have been purchased. The song appears in my library but when I go to play it iTunes skips past it and goes to the next song. It wouldn't normally bother me but its the only song my son wants to hear all the time (hopefully the heart strings will be pulled here and someone will reply before Christmas to help me!) I've loaded the last verison of iTunes.
Will the media file play with Quicktime Player? If it will then it's an iTunes issue. If it won't then you need to delete the file and download it a second time.

Some songs I purchased last night are not playing all the way through. Several songs from the 4 albums I purchased play for a period of time then just skip to the next song. The songs that do this, do it everytime they are played at the exact same spot. The songs that are affected skip to the next on iTunes on my PC which is updated to the most current iTunes and my 160gb iPod classic. Everytime they are played at the exact same spot. However on my other device, iPhone 4s all songs play just fine. I have almost 7,000 songs on my iPod and this has never happened before and I have played it awhile since downloading those albums yesterday. This is only happening with the albums purchased yesterday. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong?
I'm having the same issue with a few songs I just downloaded. It skips randomly in the middle of the song.

i downloaded an album from itunes store into my itunes library on my computer. two of the songs downloaded a few seconds of music and then skipped to the next song. only had partial downloads for a portion of the music.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -
When I am playing my music it will not advance to the next song, it just keeps repeating the song. The only way to go to the next song is to do it manually. It just started this after the last update. How do I fix it, hard to listen to at the gym.
Check the song and see if repeat is activated. Down in the bottom left corner is repeat when the music is running. It would have a colored box around it if it is active. It would either read Repeat Song, or Repeat Playlist.

I bought the Lana Del Ray Paradise Edition Album couple about a week ago, everything was fine and I loved the album, until my iTunes decided refuse to play the song "Diet Mountain Dew". Everysong workd just fine but this one song, every time I click on it, ot play it in anyway on iTunes, it will just skip to the next song. I can play this song anywhere out side of iTunes, but I can't play it on my iTunes. It's really frustrating. HELP!
neve mind guys, just fixed it.
I deleted the song off my iTunes, and cloud it back into my iTunes, it's working again **** yeah~ -

I had downloaded the new Mac Miller CD after it popped up that I had the option to download it when I opened up Itunes because I had pre-ordered it now some of the songs cut after 40seconds. Any help is appreciated.
From your description you are looking at the song from iTunes as it exists on your iDevice. The functionality you are referring to applies when selecting the song in your library, in which case you get the full menu of options like this:
Depending on other settings, you may be able to add the song to a playlist on your device from those listed at the top of the submenu when you select Add to Playlist. The Show in Playlist option that you refer to doesn't modify anything - it just lists and allows you to select any other playlists that contain the same song.
Likewise, the options available for creating new playlists from the "mini menu" at the top left of the screen apply only if you have your library selected, not your device. In the latter case you will see this:
The same operation when your library is selected shows the full range of available options:
I find the most effective approach to be to create and modify playlists within iTunes - as part of the library - and then sync to iDevices, rather than trying to modify any device content directly. -
Why do some songs I've imported from cd's skip to the next song after a few seconds of play?
This causes the songs to do the same once i've put them on my ipod. Songs purchased through iTunes play properly...
Are you in a country, where you can download past purchases again?
Then delete the three bad songs from your iTunes Library and download them again from the store:
See: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
With iTunes '11Go to the iTunes Store
Make sure that you have "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" enabled in your iTunes preferences by going to iTunes > Preferences under the Store tab. Then, click OK.
If you're not already signed in, choose Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
After you've signed in, click the Library button located in the upper-right of the iTunes Store.
Navigate to your iTunes library for the respective content type you wish to download using the content selector in the upper-left. Choose Music to download songs, Movies to download movies, and so on. -
Anyone know of a fix for this?? Can I get another download of that one song?
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

itunes music purchase not completely playing
Hello Oneway2,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
If the Control Panel is not functioning properly for you, I would force quit all the apps, and then restart the iPod and try again.
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If that does not fix the Control Panel, I would next backup to iTunes and restore the iPod.

What's with the iPhone comparisons?
Ultimately it's just an iPod. It's core purpose is a media player, not a communications device, as it would become a threat to the iPhone. It can only have so many features before it becomes more than just an iPod. Of course there are disappointments
