WHen I choose an album, upload a file(s), just as the file(s) is uploaded the file I have chosen disappears and I am asked to choose album again. If I ignore this and drag a file onto the sceneline, I get the "where is the file " message" and when click on the file it is looking for I get the message "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed". I have made many little films before but always have this problem now. Any suggestions?

Although we are continents apart - Australia (Perth) vs North America (US), we will not let time zones interfere with getting your Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 working.
1. The usual Premiere Elements 8 drill.
a. Are the automatic features of Background Rendering and AutoAnalzyer turned Off?
For Background Rendering, see Premiere Elements workspace Edit Menu/Preferences/General. For AutoAnalzyer, see Elements Organizer workspace Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalyzer Options.
b. Are you running the program from the 8.0.1 Update? If not, see Help Menu/Update?
c. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1?

2. The usual computer drill....for your Windows XP 32 bit (SP3, I presume)
a. Is computer opitimized, defragmented, etc.

b. Are you running your computer from a User Account with Administrative Privileges? That is important for Premiere Elements 8 as well as for its
required QuickTime. In addition, right click the computer desktop icon for Premiere Elements 8 and select and apply Run As Administrator.
3. Project Specifics
For now, import your source media into the project from the computer hard drive using the project's Get Media/Files and Folders. Leave the Elements Organizer and Albums out of the equation for now. We will circle back to it soon after we decide everything else is working as it should be.
a. You need to set a project preset. And, that project preset should match the properties of your source media. So important to know properties of source media.
b. When you import your source media into a project you will get a red line over its content if the project preset is not a match - either because you set the wrong one or the program does not have a match for your particular video. That red line means that you are not seeing the best possible preview of what is being played back in the Edit area monitor. To get the best possible preview, you hit the Enter key of the computer main keyboard to get a rendered Timeline (red line goes from red to green after this type of rendering). That green line over your rendered Timeline indicates that you are now getting the best possible preview. This is solely a preview thing. Longer story, but I will leave it at that for now.
c. Check Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks to assure that those Scratch Disks are being saved to a computer hard drive location with enough free space to accept them. Make sure that you do not have pile ups of previews files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files.

Never move, delete, or rename source files after they have been imported into a project which has been saved/closed. Otherwise, nasty media disconnect problems. You have only copies of media in Premiere Elements. The originals are on the hard drive, and the project must trace back to the originals where they were at import.
Based on the above, try to start a new project. But, let me know ahead of time what you will be importing into the project. I am looking for
Video
video compression
audio compression
frame size
frame rate
interlaced or progressive
pixel aspect ratio
If you do not know, we could try to get that type of information from knowing the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the video.
Photos
Pixel dimensions and how many photos?
Lots and lots of details, but eventually they all mellow into one workflow that you can customize for your projects.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions or to ask for clarification. We can go at whatever pace you feel comfortable with.

I tried using the downloaded update. It still didn't work but at least I did not have to restart my computer. The message was a little different too: "The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

Run through this list of fixes, either something is corrupted or you have malware that's blocking the update.

Make sure to backup your users files to a external storage drive first (not only TimeMachine as it may fail to restore) and disconnect, because if' it's a drive corruption/failing then the entire thing will either have to be replaced or a wipe and install done.

Thanks to Dave Sawyer for posting information about re-downloading an app which has been deleted. I deleted the app from iTunes. Then, when I synched, iTunes asked me if I wanted the items on my ipod touch copied back into iTunes. I said yes and then synched.
Readdledocs is now working again. It is no longer frozen. However, I have learned my lesson. I will download only pdf's from now on. I don't think it works so well with epub files. The text reflow feature of Readdledocs is exactly what I need to use for my work documents on my ipod touch.

You can't get it reset; if you could there would be no point in having it. If you have an encrypted backup there are two ways this could have happened:
You checked "Encrypt Backup" in iTunes at some time in the past, either intentionally or by accident
You have a corporate MS Exchange account and your Exchange administrator installed a security profile on your phone that requires the phone'a contents to be encrypted. This, in turn, requires the backup to be encrypted for obvious reasons.
In either case you were prompted for a password the first time you backed up after whichever of these happened. So think about what you might have entered for a password at that time. Fortunately you get an unlimited number of tries. Other threads on this subject have shown that it is always a password known to the user, so it wasn't something made up by iTunes. Also, everyone who has figured it out has found it to be a different password type, so try your Apple ID password, your computer's login password, your WiFi password, your corporate domain password, etc. And try passwords that may have been changed since your first backup. There are also some scam password crackers available that don't actually work and possibly steal your information. Your post is somewhat confusing. To restore your iPad you use the iTunes application on your computer and connect your iPad. Select your iPad in the left column of iTunes on your computer and select General in the right column. You should find the restore choice there.

That;s really not enough free space... you can use a tools such as OmniDiskSweeper to find out where your large files reside and begin pruning (or copying to an external if they're files that you want to keep).
One thing is certain - if you're going to continue your current usage you're certainly going to need to install a larger boot drive.

AFTER downloading Firefox 4.0 I get a "system does not support" message and nothing happens. My old Firefox has been replaced by this one that dosn't work.

Asked by Firefox to download Firefox 4.0 for OSX I did so. It replaced my old Firefox that worked fine. When I try to open it I get a Firefox "cannot be launched" window and nothing more happens. I tried to redownload Firefox 3.616 but to open it I get a "choose an application" message and I don't know which application to use.

What is going on? I can't believe that it's virtually impossible to find a place to download the old version without going through all kinds of hoops and hoping that someone was brave enough to face the confusion of getting to the right place in order to find a replacement version. Why is system compatibility check not available before downloading? 4.0 downloaded and installed without ever stopping to check compatibility, which would have saved several hours of trying to figure out how to get the old version back (and it's no easier when you have a brain injury believe me!)
And I'll still be forced to use this sucky new version in a "short time?" Have you people totally gone off the rails?

Try what Google threw out:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar and delete your email account.
Then tap Settings > Safari > and Tap Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
Now tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar and re-enter your email account details.

It must be difficult being so far away from your husband, even more so when there is very little communication! Let's see what's going on. What phone do you have? Does he have a VZW phone and plan? When did you start getting these errors? Has he moved to a different city/ state in Mexico? What dialing pattern are you using? Does he have a Mexico plan that is possibly exceeded for this bill cycle? While in the U.S., (from your phone), please try dialing *228 [send], option 1 to re-program your phone. Also, if possible, please try deleting your thread of messages with him, and then restart your phone. He can try deleting his thread of messages and restarting his phone too.
