When I click a link it just doesn't open. In a new tab or window the same link connects instantly.

On occasion when I click links in Firefox nothing happens. The connection doesn't seem to be made, I can click repeatedly, and still it doesn't follow the link. Then when I open a new tab, or window, and paste the same link, it goes instantly. Someone mentioned that this may be a Firefox addon problem. Is there any solution to this non-connecting problem I seem to be having?

Looking at your installed extensions, I would be guessing either the Free Download Manager plugin or Skype extension (last is unlikely as it's deactivated, but you never know..).
You can test if it's an add-on problem by starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] - if there is no longer an issue in Firefox Safe Mode, it is almost certain that one of the add-ons are at fault.

I have two issues since upgrading to FF4. The first issue is, when I click on a bookmark it will not automatically open in a new tab. I do have this option checked in my preferences, but it will not work. The second issue is when I search in the Google box, I cannot click on the auto search option.

Bookmarks always open in the current tab unless you middle-click or use Ctrl + left-click to open the bookmarks in a new tab just like you do with other links.
There are extensions that can change that behavior.

I just uploaded to the newest version of Firefox. Now, when I click on a bookmark the link opens in the same tab - they won't open in a new tab. However, when I click on a link in an existing page that link opens in a new tab. I miss having my bookmarked links open in their own individual tabs. Please put that function back in.

Some add-ons like Tab Mix Plus offer that as an option, but I do not recall that ever being a built-in function if Firefox.

When i click on a bookmark, it will not open in a new tab

I just got a Macbook Pro and installed Firefox. On a PC, whenever I clicked on a bookmark, it opened in a new tab. The same settings do not work on a Mac. The bookmark opens in the same tab I was on. Help please

My understanding is that the default action for left clicking a bookmark is to open in the current tab. If you want to open in a new tab, the middle click button is usually the way to do it.
Alternatively, you can install the following extension which will force all bookmarks to open in a new tab:

This is using Mac Firefox current version. I use lots of tabs and don't have space for all of them so there is a >> at the right end for clicking and displaying the rest of them. If I click and display list and highlight one of them, the right click does not work - I want to open in a new tab not use the existing - there are no menu options displayed on these tabs. An app changed it to some other search engine, before installing the app, I the tab that would open was the homepage I set.
In my case it is Google, and I want my new tabs to open on Google like they did before the installation.

WHEN I CLICK A LINK, IT DOESN'T OPEN IN A NEW TAB

I do a google search and then when I used to click a link it would open in a new tab. However it no longer does this. I have tried all the following remedies to no avail.
I have tried under Tools>Options>Tabs and checking and unchecking the open new windows in a new tab.
I have restarted the computer.
I have tried it in safe mode and still no luck.
I have tried typing in the url about:config and checked the specs but didn't work.
I tried "Open Link in new tab" add on
None of these damn things work and I'm frustrated as %$%$.

Hmm, this isn't a built-in feature of Firefox, but here are a couple possibilities:
(1) Maybe Yahoo has a setting for this, but it is stored in a cookie and the cookie got wiped out somehow?
(2) Maybe one of your add-ons has a setting for this, but the add-on was disabled during the update because it needs to be updated for Firefox 30?
You can check whether any of your extensions are disabled or need updating on the Add-ons page. Either:

In the left column, click Extensions. The disabled ones appear toward the bottom on a gray background.

The "manual" methods for opening a link in a new tab are:
* hold down the Command key while clicking the link
* "middle-click" the link with a mouse scroll wheel
* right-click the link > Open Link in New Tab
If command+click doesn't work, this can indicate that a script attached to the link and is overriding normal Firefox behavior.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)
Use the Filter at the top of the page to locate this pref: browser.search.openintab
If the value of the browser.search.openintab pref is false then toggle the value to true with a double click on that line.

I can't open a new tab up in the same window when I click the little + sign next to the first tab. How do I get that to work on FF4 for Windows Vista?

I have a Sony Vaio labtop with Windows Vista, just updated to the new Firefox and now when I go to add a tab in the same window, it won't allow a new one. I clicked the + button/tab thing a bunch of times and nothing happens. What can I do to fix this? I'm not very computer literate so step by step directions would help alot. Thanks for any help.
