When i click on a bookmark, it will not open in a new tab

I just got a Macbook Pro and installed Firefox. On a PC, whenever I clicked on a bookmark, it opened in a new tab. The same settings do not work on a Mac. The bookmark opens in the same tab I was on. Help please

My understanding is that the default action for left clicking a bookmark is to open in the current tab. If you want to open in a new tab, the middle click button is usually the way to do it.
Alternatively, you can install the following extension which will force all bookmarks to open in a new tab:
* https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-bookmarks-in-new-tab/
Or this extension which will provide more options for tabs (including what you want):
* https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus/

I have two issues since upgrading to FF4. The first issue is, when I click on a bookmark it will not automatically open in a new tab. I do have this option checked in my preferences, but it will not work. The second issue is when I search in the Google box, I cannot click on the auto search option.

Bookmarks always open in the current tab unless you middle-click or use Ctrl + left-click to open the bookmarks in a new tab just like you do with other links.
There are extensions that can change that behavior.

I just uploaded to the newest version of Firefox. Now, when I click on a bookmark the link opens in the same tab - they won't open in a new tab. However, when I click on a link in an existing page that link opens in a new tab. I miss having my bookmarked links open in their own individual tabs. Please put that function back in.

Some add-ons like Tab Mix Plus offer that as an option, but I do not recall that ever being a built-in function if Firefox.

when i do left click on a bookmark in bookmark menu, my bookmark does't open yet
I must do right click on bookmark, select "Open in new Tab" only then I can see my bookmark.

Проблема в том, что в Мозиле не работает функция "Открыть" закладку. В меню закладок выбираю нужную закладку, кликаю левой кнопкой сворачивается меню закладка не открывается. I used to have this problem on my old XP computer, too. The easiest way to fix it is to restart your computer. Use Shutdown and restart. This will stop the firefox process that is hanging and won't show up on your screen.
If you are somewhat computer literate, you can look at all your running processes by pressing Ctrl Shift Esc all at once using the three finger salute. Look at the list of processes to find firefox, highlight it, and select end process. Then go back and click on your shortcut to your firefox to regain control and display it on your screen.
Be sure to upgrade to the latest version of firefox, Version 5. It works much better than previous versions.

Will not open link in new tabs, some of my add ons are not working properly

I am using Firefox 3.6.6
My add ons, such as Gmail Notifier and Forecast Fox are not showing up on the bottom, but they are all enabled and updated. Also, when right click and select Open Link in New Tab, it opens an Untitled tab.

The current version of Greasemonkey is compatible with Firefox 29. Could you check to make sure it is not turned off? There should be a "monkey" icon on the toolbar. Clicking that icon turns Greasemonkey on and off; the "off" state is designated by a faded icon, while the "on" state has a full-colored icon.
More generally, could you check for possible extension updates and disable unimportant extensions in case one of those conflicts with Firefox?
Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, look for the "gear" button above the list and choose Check for Updates.
I also suggest disabling any extensions you won't be using for the next 24 hours so that you can test whether that improves Firefox's functioning.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

hi, i did what matt suggested and started my mac in safe mode....the links worked well in safe mode....when i checked them after booting up normally, the links worked for a time, not long, and now they no longer work
what is happening with me, when i click on a link in tb, firefox will open to the proper link, however, if firefox is already open the link will just bring up the firefox browser and not the link....i have to close firefox and then click on the link and firefox will then open to the proper window......
any help would be appreciated

Safari will not open PDFs in new tab

Whenever I open a PDF in a new tab, it doesn't show up. I can download it and open it perfectly fine, but it will not display in Safari...

Back up all data.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
