When I click on a link the new tab does not open chosen link, it opens a different link entirely

This has been a problem for a month. Before that it was never an issue. If I do a web search, find what I want then click on that link the new tab that opens is the selected link--it is something else entirely. I like Firefox and want to continue using it as my browser but I am not having the problem with Chrome at all so I think it is something with Firefox settings and not my computer a virus of some kind...but then I don't know much about these things.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You need to connect your iPod to iTunes on a computer and update from there.

Please note that iPod 3d generation only goes up to iOS 5.1.1

I have a Ipod touch and recently added new music to my itunes library on my laptop. When I sync with my ipod, the new music does not show up on my ipod even though the sync process seems to be working.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Now on Firefox 28.0. I got an update for Divx and installed. Following this new tabs were direct to search.conduit. I uninstalled this but now when I open new tabs I get a blank page and have to manually direct to my homepage. Previously a new tab opened automatically as my home page (Google). Your settings might have switched when you installed DivX. You can set the new tab page to something different by the following:
*Navigate to about:config

*Close down Firefox and re-open.

After a search page renders, the NEW FF does NOT open up a choice in a new window and you lose the search page. WHY? I do not like this!

every internet browser keeps the main page that renders when you do a search. you can click on any of the options and a new window opens. the latest version of FF i downloaded today has completely removed that feature. when you click on a search choice, it opens up in the same window as the search page and you loose all your search options. that is not good..
i may have to go to Chrome now unless you can fix this

Previous version of Foxfire allowed for opening a new tab to your homepage. I cannot find that setting in Firefox 6.
BTW, please quite screwing with Firefox. You're not making it better.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Hi jcatx2013, we don't really have enough information on your system to make specific suggestions...
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Any difference?
