When I click on firefox icon there's no window that opens but the tool bar and the url are at the top of the page???

I cannot get a window, check my email, go to any of my bookmarks, etc. I am forced to use Safari, but I need firefox for certain classes and websites.

Why are you using an old Firefox 4.0 beta 4 version (latest is [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html 4.0b6]) ?
Such version are meant for testing purposes by experienced users who know how to deal with issues and not for daily use.
You should stick with the official release (currently 3.6.10).

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Assuming iPhoto 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

Sounds like you are missing the Mail Toolbar.
Do you have a Menu Bar with File-Edit-View etc?
If not press the alt key to make it appear.
From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbars back on.
Write and Address Book are on the Mail Toolbar.
FYI: The alt key or F10 will make a missing toolbar appear in most applications.

My Macbook starts up, shows the screen saver, then immediately goes to sleep. I tap the spacebar, it comes back for a second, shows the tool bar and the hard drive icon then immediately "goes to sleep". This can go on forever, on, sleep, on, sleep.

This sounds like screen curtain may be enabled. Screen curtain is a feature that allows display privacy. To disable screen curtain while VoiceOver is enabled, you can three finger triple tap the screen to disable this feature. You may need to press the home button once in order to process these steps. My eyes hurt from all caps... I think it could be this issue:
There is a "bug" in Firefox 20 on Mac OS X where if you close all the pages and then Quit Firefox, it thinks it crashed and starts with the crash recovery screen on the next startup.
Two workarounds until this is fixed:
(1) Quit with at least one page open; or
(2) Don't try to restore the previous session after a crash. Here's how that is changed:
(i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the search box in that tab, type or paste '''sessions''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash''' to toggle its value from true to false.
This should be fixed in a future release of Firefox.

I had a bookmarked site in my most visited folder at the top of the tool bar and today it isn't there. How do I get it back in there?

I don't know how to put a bookmarked page back into my most visited folder on the tool bar under the "back" arrow key. It has been there for days and this morning it was gone!

Click on the Menu bar and go to View . Or, hover over where the Menu bar shiuld be and click on it when it appears. Try quitting and relaunching Finder.

It used to work, and then it started not opening when I clicked on it, but it would work again after a while. Now it does nothing at all. I've tried restarting my computer already and it didn't help at all. :/
