When i click on my pictures I get an exclamation mark

I have all my pictures on iphoto and when I went to click on a thumbnail the picture turns to a dark exclamation mark. How do I get back my pictures?

That's an indication that iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original files in the library package. Also it helps to include your system version and version of iPhoto in your original post. Saves us guessing. The following is for iPhoto 9.4.
Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

OK..this forum help me locate my iPhoto so HOPEFULLY ya'll can help me w/ 1 another issue. The two problems are related.
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
And that's why you can't export as well.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

When I click on a picture I get a different one. However on my external hard drive there doesn't seem to be this problem. VERY frustrating and disappointing.

My pictures appear to be a jumbled mess on my mac. What's going on? The picture I click on is not the one that appears. Thanks for any help.

If you see a message about rebuilding your thumbnail cache
Over time, iPhoto can become less efficient at accessing the photos in your library. Rebuilding the cache can help iPhoto display your photos faster, and can also resolve issues such as thumbnails that appear to be dimmed or missing.
After upgrading iPhoto, you might see a message asking if you want to rebuild your thumbnail cache. You can choose whether to do it then or come back to it later.
Important: You should back up your iPhoto library before rebuilding your thumbnail cache.

If iPhoto is open, quit it.
Hold down the Option and Command keys while you open iPhoto (click the iPhoto icon in the Dock).The Rebuild Photo Library window opens.
Select at least these two checkboxes:

No longer able to download podcasts, get an exclamation mark on left of episode listing after clicking download icon

suddenly cannot download new podcasts to my Shuffle. After clicking the download icon, I get an exclamation mark to the left of the podcast label. I tried resubscribing to the podcast with no success.

When I click on a picture, Photoshop Elements 12 does not automatically open.

When I click on a picture, Photoshop Elements 12 does not automatically open (as it did when I used previous versions Photoshop Elements 4 and 9). I can't even right-click (Windows) on the picture and choose Open With and specifiy Photoshop Elements 12. I have called Adobe several times (Case No. 185140584) and they keep saying it has been sent up to senior management and they will call me back with a solution - but to no avail! No return calls and I still can't really use the Product I paid for and downloaded. The only way I can open up a picture to edit it is to open Photoshop Elements 12 and then then click "Open" and then search for the picture on my hard drive (which takes a lot more time! I did not experience this difficulty at all with versions 4 or 9!

You failed to say which Windows system you have - I can get the "Open With" to work on my Windows 7 64bit system.
When you try to set up the "Open With", are you setting the correct target program?
It's the green one (not the red one) in the above image.
Once you have selected that program, make sure you set it as default so that a double click will open the photo in the editor.

When I click on a photo it gets larger and then disappears

When I view an album and click on a picture it gets larger for just a second and then goes away. A triange with a is replaced where the picture should be. Apple recenty reinstalled my OS due to problems with I-work opening slow, which is working ok now. They got my pictures on the I-photo again. However, I have many duplicates and they are all messed up with Events out of sort. I don't know if I will ever get them organized again. My concern now is why some of the pic disappear when I click on them. Has anyone had this problem before with the pics disappearing?

do you still have the iPhoto library from before they "fied" things? Is so drag the bad i{hoto library to the desktop and restore the backup of the iPhoto library to the pictures folder and hopefully things will be good
Otherwise what they did will take a lot of work and only be partially sucessful in getting yoru library back the way it was

When I click on a picture in my photo library another picture in the library appears.

I recently bought the IPhone 4s and all was well. I later updates my iphoto software to 9.2 now after the last sync of the phone I noticed when I click on a picture in my photo library on the phone, anoter picture from the library come up not the one I clicked on. So I've never had any problem with my computer before..... I have Iphoto 9.
When i click on my pictures, they all appear in all photos. However if i click on them, it goes blank i hvae a black screen with a exclamation point that appears. Please help, whats going on????

This indicates a disconnect between the Thumbnail and the original
this can be caused by two things
1 - User action deleting items from inside the iPhoto library - can be directly - can be from the All images list (never delete from there) - can be from running cleanup software like MacKeeer, CleanMac2 or other dangerous, defective software that improperly deletes or changes things in the iPhoto library - if you have done any of these things you must restore your backup from before you did them and damaged your iPhoto library - and I recommend getting rid of any "clean up software" ASAP (although being essentially MalWear it is not easy)
2 - corruption of the iPhoto library - If it is not #1 then Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your database

I have just upgraded from CS 6 (Dreamweaver) and now when I click on a picture on a web page in Dreamweaver it doesn't go to the folder where the photo is stored anymore. If this continues I'll have to go back to CS 6 as I have to put in alot of photos.

I always do my Rentals with the itunes program on the computer.
Make rental from itunes store. It will show in movies under library, DO NOT click to play it. Plug in the device to the computer. Click the name of the device on left. Click on movies. There is an option to copy to the device. Sync. obviously you still need space on ipad to put rental but you can have it take computers hard drive space until you need it.

Next problem is that when moving through the installer and get to custom install, as I only want to install iDVD and iWeb, I am presented with the option to install iDVD, Sounds & Jingles and iWeb, but not sure what is going on with the other 3 options iLife Support etc, they seem to be greyed out but still look like they may install over the top of the newer versions already on my imac. Is it ok for me to just go ahead and hit install? Or do I have a problem?

Yep, just install iDVD (plus sounds and jingles) and iWeb if you want it (but note that iWeb apparently won't work if you upgrade to Mountain Lion).
Then use Software Update to get any late iDVD updates.

You need to do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder before installing a newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
