It sounds like your computer may be infected with some sort of a virus / Malware.
    I suggest the following resources:
[[Is my Firefox problem a result of malware |Is my Firefox problem a Result of Malware]] is a Mozilla Support article with some good tips on avoiding and fighting malware.
To double check your system is clean, do the following (Not official Mozilla advice, just good practice from personal experience)
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]
Download and Run TDSSKiller [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363]
Download and Install Microsoft Security Essentials [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials] (not an official endorsement, but I personally recommend MSE as an awesome permanent anti-virus)
Double check for all Windows Updates.
Also, I noticed you have the coupon printer installed. I would go to Start, Control Panel, then programs and features and uninstall the coupon Printer from inside there. It can cause some problems with Firefox.
If you are still having problems with Malware after that, I would recommend either [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/], or having your computer cleaned by a professional.

  • When I click on a link in an emial, Firefox won't open up

I downloaded the new version of Firefox yesterday. Firefox is my default browser. Now when I click on a link in an email, Firefox will show up at the top of the screen "Firefox-File-Edit-View-etc" but it would open the Firefox page.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Why when I click on a link to play a video it runs in slow motion?

When I click on a link within a site (MSN) to play a new story the video runs in slow motion. This started to happen suddenly. I have tried to refresh Firefox and updating some add-ons but still have the same problem. What can I do to fix it. When I try it in IE it works fine but not in Firefox. Help!

From what I found on MSN it looks like it uses Flash. It is quite possible to try to disable/enable hardware acceleration in Flash or disable protected mode. [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems]]

  • Is there a way to force firefox to send ajax-request when user clicks on a link and redirect occurs?

I'm trying to send ajax-request with web-analytics data when user clicks on a link. But Firefox cancels the request and moves to the link location. Sync requests or waiting for response is not an option because performance is critical.

Correct me if I'm wrong here:
<code>jQuery.data()</code> saves the <code>{"foo": "bar"}</code> JSON object to variable <code>data</code>, and then the <code>s.tl()</code> call sends <code>data</code> to the server, right?
You could use jQuery's [http://api.jquery.com/event.preventDefault/ <code>event.preventDefault()</code>] method to stop the browser from automatically following the link on click. You could wait until the Ajax request was finished before following the link.
    <hr>
I hope that solved your problem!
<i>If it did, would you please choose this answer as your solution? It would help other Firefox users to find help on the forums faster and more efficiently. Thanks!</i>

  • Mail opens two Safari windows when I click on a link in email

When I click on a link in Mail, it opens in Safari -- that's the way I have it setup. Yet, the problem is that it opens two windows in Safari, one empty and one with the content of the link.
This is the second problem I have with Mail. The second one was posted to this discussion but it was not resolved. I repeat here the text of the problem:
I've been having a problem with mail for a while, when sending attached JPEGs from my Mac using Mail or Entourage. The photos are split -- say a 140 kb file will show up in my two other computers (both Windows PCs) as two files, one 65 kb and the other 75 kb, for example.
Yet, when I click on Mail's (in my Mac) sent folder and click on the particular sent email, it shows a full blown 140 kb attachment, not split.
Several weeks ago, my Mac Address book got cranky and for some reason it would repeat the name of an addressee. I finally deleted the name of that addressee and created a new entry and it seemed to work, so it did not split JPEGs -- or at least I thought that was the case.
Now it is back splitting the JPEGs but this time, the addressee's name is well formatted -- no repeats within the entries in the card in Address Book.
When I mail something from my Windows PCs and open it in my Mac, the file is complete.
What could be causing this split?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

  • Firefox display odd characters when I click an mp4 link

Up until about a month ago, I could click a link to an mp4 file and it would stream in my browser perfectly - now, I get square characters and question marks - just a bunch of giberish. These videos play perfectly in Safari, Chrome and IE.
I'm on FF 31.0 and the browser reports that Firefox is up to date. What changed with the recent updates?

This happens if the server sends the file as text/html or as text/plain.
In such a case Firefox will try to render the page instead of opening it in a media player.
This can also happen if you ever got the "Open with" dialog when you clicked such a link and have chosen to open file in Firefox.
You should never do this to avoid such an issue and you will have to remove this action in Firefox > Preferences > Applications
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions
If that wasn't possible then rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

  • I installed 4.01 and now when I click on a link in the menus or the seach window, the whole firefox browser window jumps

This happens when I click on most menu links. For example, if I click on Help and select "About Firefox" the entire browser window jumps. The same goes for if I click on the default search box or on the Google Toolbar search box.
If I click on something out of Firefox, such as my desktop or an open program, it jumps when I click the Firefox tab on my task bar to return to Firefox.
When I click a shortcut link, such as in bookmarks, it does not do it.

For those of you who have tried to clear this problem up with virus scans, various malware scanning programs, tdss rootkiller, etc....I have another possibility. I found another thread on this very forum where someone suggested the problem was in the router...specifically, there were manually entered DNS addresses in the router setup. I logged into my router (192.168.1.1) and sure enough, there were DNS addresses loaded and it was setup to use those DNS addresses. I simply clicked on the option to pull the DNS addresses automatically from my ISP, changed the password, and the problem was gone.
Thanks to cr85tx for the solution!!!

I have not found a way for the email hypertext to go to the FaceBook App, but I no longer click on the hypertext as I know whatever information or posting it is directing me to in FaceBook will show up when I open my FaceBook App.  I also have noticed that many pop-ups on the Browser don't actually know if you already have the software they are promoting.

  • How do I get firefox to open a new window when i click on a link in a webpage ?

When I click on a link in a webpage in Firefox, generally it opens the new page in the window i am in (though some times it does not). How do I get it to open a new window (or tab) each time I click a link.
For example, on www.bbc.co.uk if I click on a link, the new page opens in the same window, if I then click another link in the new window, again, it opens in the same window. To get back to the original window, I have to use the back button twice. Surely there is a setting so that all 3 windows can be open on separate tabs or separate windows.
I have been to the tabs window in options, but doesn't seem to make a difference.

Open link/bookmark in new tab in same window:
*Middle-click (press the mouse scroll wheel) the link
    *Ctrl+left click the link
*right-click the link, choose "Open Link in New Tab"
    Open link/bookmark in new window:
    * Shift+Enter on the link
    * Shift+left click on the link

  • When I click on a link within a Web page, Firefox just spins until I reload the new page.

When I enter a new URL or select a bookmark, Firefox loads the page promptly. When I click on a link within that page to go to another page, the Firefox tab green spinner often just spins and spins. It either takes a very long time to load (2 or more minutes), or never finishes loading. It's usually a greater problem when I "Open a link in a new tab". I can usually make the new page appear by reloading, either clicking the red X and the circular arrow, or Ctrl-F5, etc.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />
