When I click on the icon for HP Photosmart 5520, nothing comes up

When I click on my HP Photosmart icon, on my home screen, nothing happens. I can print in programs and by clicking cntrl-p and I can copy from the printer but i have no way to scan to or from. I have ran HP print and scan doc but still no software pops up when I click on the HP icon

@texrjoe, Welcome to the Community
I read your post about the issues you have been having with opening up the HP software on your computer, and to me seems like there could be a driver issue.
I would recommend completely Uninstalling the Printer Software from the Control Panel and restarting the PC afterwards to finish the uninstall. Next, click the link below to download the printers Full Feature Driver that will also include the scanning software and from there you should be able to open it from your desktop and scan documents or photos.

I just tried the link and it is just fine. If the GateKeeper pops up then open Security & Privacy preferences, click on the General tab, set the last radio button to Anywhere.

Check in Add-ons to see if you have any toolbars installed:

Because the Ask Toolbar (a custom version I think) is sometimes installed (or offered to be installed) with other programs, such as Foxit Reader.

Yes, if you repurchase it you may lose your progress. The exception would be a game that stored all your progress on a server under your ID

1. Don't apply the update.
2. Use your fathers account password to update the game.

I meant holding the "option" (or "alt") key on your keyboard as you click the Outlook icon on the Dock, and continuing to hold it until you see the Microsoft Database Utility come up. Alternatively, you can open the utility by navigating to Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office and then double-clicking the Microsoft Database Utility app.
When you rebuild your database using that program, a backup copy of your original database (containing your account info, contacts, mail, calendars, etc) will be created. As a security precaution, you should also ensure you have a backup of your database (which you can find by going to Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/ and copying the contents of that folder onto an external drive).

You can setup Mail for iCloud on the eMac.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.

You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.

When I open Thunderbird, I can not see the inbox window. When I click on the icon in my dock (Mac) it's checked like it's open but I can't see it.

When you remove iTunes, your music on your computer (and your iPod, too) will be saved.
Let's try this:
Go to "Add or remove programs" in Control Panel.
Find iTunes and QuickTime from this list, and remove them both.
Then, download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the remainging installation files.
For information on the WICU, see this:

Then, go to this page, and QuickTime (get the Standalone version, not the one that includes iTunes in the pack):

Then, install iTunes from this page here:
Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5
After you've done that, restart your computer.
Now, try opening iTunes again. Do you still get that error message, or not?

The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

The app delivered for iOS can't run under OSX on a mac.
The app delivered for OSX on a mac can't run under iOS on iPhone or iPad.
They are different products.
I repeat that to run Numbers on you iMac you must buy Numbers for OSX delivered on Mac App Store or, if you are running an old operating system (older than 10.6.6) you may download the iWork's 30 days free trial version, install it, update it as iWork 9.0.4 and buy a registration code thru Apple Store.

I have read that I should do a clean reinstall. Will I loose all of my open tabs, bookmarks, history etc?
Is there another way to fix the problem other than a reinstall. this would have to be my last resort!

A possible cause of this error is that Firefox is set to run as Administrator.
Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
* Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
* "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
