as per the question. i get twenty icons and then when i close i have to click on each icon to close firefox

My firefox custom page does not come up when i click the firefox icon w/mac

To make sure your windows isn't corrupted because of the power outage, let's run chkdsk.
Click on My Computer, then right click your C: Drive (if you have other hard drives, you will want to run this on them as well). Then, click Properties. Inside that window, go to the Tools tab. Inside that tab, open up the "Check Now" button. That will open a smaller window. Select the checkbox to "Automatically fix file system errors", then hit Start. Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list.

and if you can run okay in Safe Mode then you pretty much know the problem is an extension. Clearing cache using Firefox Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Clear Now

My home wireless network is working (and I know this because Internet Explorer will work) but every time I click Mozilla it tries to open the home page but then times out. I did install Zone Alarm but had no problems initially but wonder if this could have caused the problem?

Firefox crashes as soon as I click the Firefox icon.

That is is always a problem when you are using multiple profiles and Firefox isn't running.
It might work if no profile is selected (i.e. marked as Default=1 in profiles.ini).<br />
You can use desktop shortcut that open with a specific profile (-P "profile").<br />
There is also a setting in the Profile Manager (Don't ask at startup).
