When I close Firefox then try to open it again, it informs me it is already running and continues to do so regardless of how many times I restart the computer.

I bought a new computer. I installed Firefox 7.0 then updated to 8.0. When I was finished with Firefox, I closed it. Later when I attempted to open it I was greeted with the message Firefox is already running. It suggested I restart the computer. I did so and continued to receive the same message. Surely, shutting the computer off should close Firefox. I have to use Internet Explorer to contact you.

    Hi. Whenever I want to upload a picture or a file, no matter how many times I press the "Upload" or "Browse" button, nothing happens. I can keep spam clicking on it and it wouldn't do anything.     You can kill the process manually by right clicking in the task bar (next to the time and date) and opening the task manager.

  • Firefox locks up when I close it, then refuses to open again until I restart my PC

    Firefox refuses to open again after it freezes. This is happening every day and is fast becoming a browser that I will drop and never use again. As a long time user of Firefox I expected a more reliable product from Mozilla. The last 4 releases have been pure junk.
    I'm using Windows 7 (64Bit) with 32 mg of ram. Never had a problem in the last 10 years using Firefox, but I think the time has come to switch back IE 11 which from all reports is a fast stable browser.

    Same problem with FF37 beta. All internet loads stop. When I exit the program the window closes but process continues to run and Task Manager will not stop it. The only solution is to reboot. I have tried safe mode and a full refresh. Neither helps.

  • When I close Firefox, it leaves an open instance each time in Processes. This eats up memory. I've disabled all add-ons, and it still does it.

    Over the course of the day, I can have 15-20 instances running in the background and they can range from as low as 3K in memory to upwards of 500000K. This makes my computer super laggy, and I have to go in and manually shut down each one. I've disabled every single add-on and plug in, and tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox to no avail.     Before the new add-ons manager it was possible to let Firefox check for updates to extensions at startup, and get information about available updates without having them automatically downloaded and installed. It seems that this is not possible any more - either updates are automatically installed without chance to review, or one has to open the add-ons manager to see the result of the update check. How can I get the old behaviour back?

    Mac Books have their own repair routines. I would suggest going to the Macbook usage forum and post there. Perhaps someone there can help. I would suggest a DiskRepair.
