When I closedown Firefox it does not ask me if a want to "save and close" my tabs. This is something that I use all the time with the older version. Is it still possible to do that?

In the old version of Firefox I could save all my open tabs when I shutdown Firefox but now with the new version it does not give me that option to save the tabs before closing Firefox.

You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

* browser.warnOnRestart , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnRestart

  • Firefox 4 does not ask me if I want to save my tabs when I quit. Tried all the suggestions in Firefox Help and still have the problem.

I just got a new MacBook Pro and installed Firefox 4. When I go to quit, I do not get the box that asks if I want to save the tabs before quitting, and they have not been saved. I tried all the Firefox suggestions on the Help Page, and nothing fixed this problem.

You may well be able to restore the tabs even if there is no explicit message on closing that asks you if you wish to restore.
You will be able to change firefox 4 to ask you by changing preferences, I am not sure it is covered in any Knowledge Base article, butit is often mentioned, see for instance: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/799856

  • Does not ask me if I want to save password

I have the iMac OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2 and using Safari version 8.0.3 (10600.3.18) and when I try to go to my mobile phone and login from computer such as my-tmobile.com I put in the password and does not ask me if I want to save this password or not now or never. I do not get this anymore and want my password stored under my preferences under passwords and it does not add it to here. I sometimes forget my password and if I do I can click on show passwords and put in my computer password and then I can choose which one I want to see them when I forget them. Is there anyway of adding to it if so please send me the steps to add so I can addd these passwords in my preference category.
    Thank you

  • At variance with Firefox 3, Firefox 4 does not ask me to save the opened tabs when I quit on having multiple opened tabs. How can I do this in Firefox 4?

In Firefox 3, when I happened to close the program on having multiple opened tabs, Firefox asked me if I wanted to save and remember the opened tabs, so that I could retrieve them at the next Firefox restart. Firefox 4 does not do this anymore. Is it because I have not configured it correctly somehow, or is this normal? How can I recover this function?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrea

One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''

If that doesn't help you can try a cleaning disc, or a shot of compressed air but chances are good that your optical drive has failed. You can either replace it or buy an inexpensive external unit (but not Apple's as it won't work on macs with a built in drive working or not).

You can reset the ''warn'' prefs on the '''about:config''' page via the right-click context menu.

    browser.warnOnQuit , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnQuit

In Firefox 3 and later you do not get the 'Save & Quit' pop-up dialog if you choose Tools > Options > General|Main > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time".
If that option is selected then your pages will already be reopened the next time.
To get that pop-up dialog you have to select one of the other choices (Show my home page,Show a blank page).

  • OpenAL, Every game install that uses it overwrites it with an older version.

Hello, I have a Auzentech Forte using Daniel_K's latest Auzen pack driver set which has as far as I know the newest version of OpenAl (2.1.0.0 dated /9/2009).
Most games that I install that use OpenAl like Unreal Tournament 3 want to install their own, and it seems like it just overwrites the install folder in program files (just a Folder named OpenAl with the exe inside it) with its bundled version which is usually significantly older and then runs that (the version in add remove programs changes too so its just being overwritten it seems)
Is it common practice to just replace the file with the newest one after every game install that overwrites it and then re run (install) it's Windows 7 makes it easy by just right clicking the file and selecting "Restore Previous Version" and then running that.
Are there major differences between versions aside from age? Like is the version bundled with games a pure software version of OpenAl, and the one that comes with the Drivers a hardware implementation?
    Thanks

    P. the installer is in same shape how rest of OpenAL project and many other things around ...
    sad to watch
Creative Labs never explained what's new in the 'drivers only' OpenAL 2..0.0 installer
versus the OpenAL website latest 2.0.7.0 installer.
and people are surprised that game and software developers are just ignoring OpenAL or leaving after supporting it in past ...

  • Firefox 4.1 does NOT ask me if I want to update when I have that item checked, and will NOT tell me what the update version is so I can decide whether or not I want it.

Firefox 4.0.1 on Windows 7 Ultimate
    With update settings as follows:
"Ask me what I want to do" is checked
Firefox, Add-ons, Search Engines checkboxes are all unchecked
If I choose "Check for Updates" from the Help menu, I am not told what the update is and am not given a choice about downloading it. It automatically downloads the update and then gives me an "Apply" button. As far as I can tell, there is no way to find out the version number for the update before downloading or installing it. A button that is labeled "Check for Updates" should do only that--CHECK, not download.
I want to know what the version information is for the update BEFORE anything is downloaded, so I can choose whether or not I want it. That's the way Firefox 3.x worked.
How can I restore the 3.x behavior regarding updates?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • Regarding Firefox 4 does not ask to save tabs and windows on exit even after trying all suggestions

After installing Firefox 4, Firefox would no longer ask to save tabs and windows on exit. Even after trying all suggestions to resolve the problem, the problem continued. Under the corrupted files suggestion to rename two files, that also did not help. The original file names would be recreated automatically, so both file name versions would exist in that folder. NOTHING resolves the problem.
Unfortunately, since that is a very desirable feature I, like other people who do not like Firefox 4, have gone back to an earlier version of Firefox.

You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get back the previous session.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
    Another possibility is to use:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

Also the back button has stopped working. I have made sure that inprivate browsing is not enabled, history is maintained etc etc

  • When closing Popup Window it does not ask "discard data?" dialog

We have a popup window to create/update a record. When we click on 'Close Window' on this popup window with unsaved changes it does NOT show the dialog popup - "The changes you have made to this page have not been saved. If you continue, the changes will be discarded. Do you wish to continue?"
What do I need to do to ensure the dialog popup is shown so that the underlying VO/EO are left in a consistent state before closing the popup window?
At the moment, if the user navigates to the popup window a second time in the same session the EO cache is retained and causes create to fail.
    Regards
    Firoz

The message you are talking about is a Warn About Changes message and it shows only if the user tries to navigate away from the page page without committing/rollbacking the data.
As far as Window close is concerned check whether the windows.close() could be handled using Javascripts. As far as OA framework is concerned I would recommend you do not retain the AM while the pop up window is opened. This way no data from previous popup would be available. Just make sure that you pass sufficient parameters to initialize the popup everytime.
