Is this some sort of defense mechanism to save energy or space? I noticed that this only happened after I installed mountain lion. I didn't have this problem before.

I don't think Diablo is the problem. It is retina compatible. Its what happens when I use diablo then go to desktop, or any other application - it (the other application) appears a bit blurred. as if its using the 2011 macbook pro resolution.
It can be fixed by going to system preferences and clicking "display" then use "best for retina", but it wasnt like this before OSX mountain lion...

I have tried shutting down, closing tabs, with no success. What's going on and how can I fix it?

PS: I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...

A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

As for which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
The version is noted there.

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.

I do not want to lose my old content, because it is very extensive.

You are trying to sync to other than the one iTunes library you can sync to. You can copy music from multiple library/computer if you use the manual method of syncing. That method is described here

If you want to make this computer/iTunes library your syncing computer/library you have to restore the iPod on this computer/library. Restoring erases the iPod.

Now all my data from my old phone is lost including some really important things. Also before that iTunes wouldn't let me sync my iPhone 5s data to my new iPhone 6 Plus, saying that the data is corrupt, that's where all this trouble started. Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored. (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.) If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.

How are you backing up the photos? The best way is to backup the library itself as that will preserve your organizational efforts as well as all metadata like keywords, titles, faces, places, books, etc.
You can use a backup application that does incremental backups. Thus only the first backup is a full one and subsequent backups just copy those files that are new or changed. I use Synk Pro. The lower cost version, Synk, will do the same job. Other similar apps can be found at MacUpdate.com.
OR: upload your camera to a folder on the Desktop. There you can rename the files to something that is more informative than just the file name. I use the date (international format) along with a brief desc: 2007-1-20-adian1stbday-001.jpg. File renaming apps can also be found at MacUpdate.com. Also you can give the folder an informatve name which will become the Event name when you import the folder of photos into iPhoto.

Change pointers. Change pointers are R/3 objects that mark changes to SAP master data. Change pointers are managed by mechanisms in a Shared Master Data (SMD) tool and are based on Change Document (CD) objects. CD objects record the changes occurring to master data at a field level. These changes are stored in tables CDHDR (header table) and CDPOS (detail table). ALE configuration provides a link between CD objects and change pointers. Internal mechanisms update tables BDCP and BDCPS, which host the change pointers. While CD objects are application-data-specific, the processing status of change pointers is message-type-specific. Also, the ALE change pointers are activated first at a general level and then at the message-type level.

I then installed a purchased product from Adobe disc using the serial number on the case. But when I try to launch it, I get a screen headed Photoshop CS5 Extended Trial. It asks for the serial number and says that my trial has expired. It rejects the serial number from the Adobe case saying "This Serial Number is not valid for this product". It thinks that I still have the expired Trial Version installed. How do I convince it (the program) that the Trial Version is long gone and the currently installed product was installed with a valid and accepted serial number????

After waking from sleep, my iMac (Lion) is unresponsive. The mouse moves, but when I click things it won't open them.

This has happened EVERY time the iMac goes to sleep for the last few days.. the only way I have found to resolve the issue is to manually restart the computer each time via the button on the back of the iMac.

FWIW, I never sleep my machines or their HDs, just their displays and never have an issue waking up the displays, usually run 24/7. Give that a shot.

Mine does that too. The worst thing is when it goes to sleep, then wakes up and keeps running while the lid is closed and it is wrapped up in a case. I am afraid when the hot weather comes it is going to burn up. I am hoping Apple fixes it in the software or they may have a melted MBP to replace.
Then when I open the lid it is crashed running at fill tilt, pumping out heat to beat the band. I am forced to hold the button down and reboot.
I wiped my hard disk and reinstalled my OS, but it didn't help. I reversed my OS to 10.5.0 and it solved the DVI problem but still won't sleep. Make sure that both the web browser you're using and its Flash plug-in are up to date. Google Chrome has its own Flash plug-in it updates on its own. Firefox, IE and other have separate plug-ins.

You choose to not copy them off to a computer as they are designed to be.
If they are no longer showing in iCloud, they are gone.
