When I connect ipod, itunes comes up with message - cannot read contents
Help.... lots of hrs spent trying to work this out. Can anyone help me
Everytime i connect my ipod (new nano 3rd generation 8gb) to the computer iTunes message comes up that itunes conect read contents of my ipod. It deletes songs on there then message comes up saying 'Go to summary tab in ipod preferences & click Restore to factory setting.'
I share itunes with my kids, (they have nano originals), which don't seem to be affected like mine is??
I can put songs on to ipod, however next time i connect ipod to add more music it deletes again......can anyone help me?

Uninstall everything related to Apple, then redownload iTunes and install.

You will need to restore it. The sidebar of your iPad appears on itunes even if you dont enter the passcode. There's the option to restore it. More info:

You will need to restore it. It may not sync, but the iPad's sidebar has to appear you can restore it and it will be as the last time ou synced it to iTunes. For more info:

iTunes
The version of iTunes that comes with beta 2 cannot sync devices that have the beta 1 software installed. To avoid this problem, do the following:
Sync any devices that have beta 1 installed to the version of iTunes that came with beta 1.
Upgrade iTunes to the version that comes with beta 2.
Connect the device and install the beta 2 software. (Understand that you might see a failure to sync error when you first connect the device.)
After installing the beta 2 software, restore from your the backup you made in step 1. -

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network. -
I'm running windows7 and I'm trying to connect my iPhone4 and iPod touch2 to itunes. I've installed the latest version of iTunes, and updated my iPhone's driver. When I connect either device to iTunes I get the message "you need to uninstall and reinstall itunes". I've done this multiple times with the same results. This is very frustrating, HELP!!!

When using my ipod, i get an error message cannot connect to the server
I have an ipad 2 and Ipod touch 4th gen. Safari works fine on the ipad but occassionally, I get an error message of "cannot connect to server" on the ipod when I use safari. But the ipad still can connect with NO problem. Can someone explain why this happens and how to fix it?

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

I have followed almost every step mentioned on forumns. I have upgraded IOS to 6. But I just cannot connect to iTunes from my iphone 4s. Everything else like WiFi, 3G etc works perfectly. I can even connect to App Store to download applications.
Does anyone have a magic trick to make it work?. I dont want to try Restore unless its a last resort.."is this just a scam by itunes not to engage with problems?"

Bought wife an iPhne 4s for xmas. when i connect to itunes i get a message that says iPhone cannot be used because the Apple moible device service is not started. my iPhone and kids apple devices work fine but are on a seperate account. whats the deal?
Not sure why only one particular phone is having this problem but this article will help you check and restart it if it's in fact not started: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567. Even if it is running, suggest you stop and restart it.

I have an old iPhone 3S, that was used with Bell. My friend lost her phone and I lend her this one, which she unlock to use with Rogers. I got it back and want to use as an iPod not the phone, but when I connected to iTunes I am getting this message: "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please diconnect and insert a SIM card".
I went to Bell and Rogers where we tried inserting active cards but message never changed.
On the phone itself I am able to get wifi but finish with "Your phone could not be activated because the activation server is temporary anavailable."
I run diagnostic from iTunes:everything is working properly, only message out of normal is "iTunes is not running in safe mode"

Any help will be apriacietedI can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card.
