When I connect my devices to my Windows PC, Itunes no longer recognises them
I have a number of iPods, iPads and iPhones paired with my Windows PC, but ITunes has stopped recognising any of them. Have tried different devices and different cables. Windows Explorer can see the devices, but not iTunes

Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

My iPod touch screen says it is disabled. Connect to iTunes. When I connect the device to the computer a window pops up and said that the iPod is locked and I need to enter the passcode on the iPod..... I can't get it to do anything. Any ideas?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

My ipod classic shows no music and says that the hard drive is full. When I connect it to my computer (that has itunes on it) it does nothing but windows says it needs to be formatted. It shows up under computer as a USB Drive. It won't sink.
If this is the problem following the instruction. Frequently it is a hardware problem.

Sorry to contradict you but it is also Bridge doing so, might be a different situation on Windows but on a Mac Bridge can be set to it
In Bridge prefs go to the General section / behavior and deselect the checkmark in front of "When a camera is connected launch Adobe Photo Downloader.

PLEASE HELP ME.This means that the phone you have was software unlocked to use on any carrier, or hacked. When you installed the update it restored the lock that originaly came with your phone. Not much you can do now. Apple will not support hacked phones. You will need to find out the carrier your phone is locked to and see if they offer official unlocking, or start googling to see if you can find a way to unlock 4.2.

I want to use an old 3 GS iPhone that is no longer in service as a phone now as just an iPod to play music. When I connect the phone to the computer with iTunes running, iTunes says it can't connect to the device because it didn't get a valid response from the device. How can I get the system to recognize the phone, and let me rename it as my iPod, instead of my phone?
As an aside, the current installed operating system on this old iPhone is 4.2.1, but that wasn't one of the selectable options in the operating system list dropdown below. Don't know if that makes any difference.Hi maddogdne,
