Sounds like a cable problem. Try another cable and another USB port too.

iOS 5 seems to work on my ipad, but apparently something went wrong when restoring. I lost music and movies, and when I connect the ipad to my macbook, I get the message that itunes was interrupted when restoring. I try to restore again and I get the message "An error occurred while restoring this iPad (-50)." What happened and what should I do?
I have had the same issue since day 1 of the ios5 installation. I always hit "Cancel" and then the iPad eventually shows up again in iTunes. Then a few hours later, I get the same message again. Annoying, but I've not found a way around it.

Help!!Disabling disk use MAY work... my Mac OS X is not that new so I really don't know. Go in itunes on the ipod summary page and go to the check boxes to do that. ??? good luck

I have a 1TB WD external hard disk, which suddenly cannot be detected in my system. When i connect the hardisk to the macbook, the disk appears and immediately disconnects with the message "Disk not properly ejected". Any advice ?
verify on another Mac if the same
WD is having issues with mavericks as you can see on the WD forum, did you install any WD software (never do that) when you connected the drive for the first time?
possible issue is a dead SATA bridge card or the new WD firmware w/ Mavericks.

You cannot, unless you are trying to use the Personal Hotspot on the phone for an internet connection on the MacBook. The devices do not connect via Bluetooth for anything else.

i have just downloaded and installed the latest version of itunes. Now when i connect my ipad to my computer via USB, itunes states that the apple mobile device service cannot be started because of an unknown error (1058). The connection worked fine with the previous version of itunes.
so then i tried intsalling a stand alone if apple mobile device support (amds) but still it doesnt work

I have an iphone 4, with ios 4.3.3. I want to update it but when I connect it to itunes it says that it is the latest version of the software. So I cannot update it, and I need it very bad. Can anyone help me?
What version of iTunes do you have installed? If you are trying to update to iOS 6 you need iTunes 10.7 or later.

Why is that when I am composing a new message do I end up with multiple versions of my message I am composing up in my Google Trash mailbox? How can I stop this from happening?
It was very hard to see what the box says because the message displays for less than one second. However, I was able to record it with my iphone and pause it until I got a shot of the message. The box says the following:
"Do you want the application “java” to accept incoming network connections?
Clicking deny may limit the application’s behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall pane of Security preferences."
I did make some changes. I will see if it works.

Connect an old iMac to a MacBook via ethernet to gain internet access?
I have a 2008 white macbook running 10.6.8
I have a 2004 lamshade G4 800mhz imac running 10.4.11
I do not have a wireless card for the imac and it is no where near my router.
Is there any way to connect the imac to the macbook with an ethernet cable and use the macbooks internet on the imac? If so, can you give me the step by step directions?Connect an ethernet cable from the MacBook to the iMac.
From the Macbook, do System Preferences > Sharing and turn ON "Internet Sharing.
Set the options so they look like this:
except click the checkbox so internet sharing is "on." (I didn't turn it on when I made the screnshot.)
That should route internet servtce from the wireless access of the MB to the iMac.
You should be able to use a standard cat5 patch cable but. if that doesn't work, try either connecting via an ethernet hub or use a crossover cat5 cable. I think the iMac is new enough to not require a crossover but I add this as an option. -
i am using for first time the time machine and an external hard drive because I want to erase my macbook and start from zero files. Am i keeping my files in the portable hard disk when I will connect it again with the macbook or the time machine will erase all?

Time Machine has to erase the external disk in order to make backups. Before setting Time Machine up, copy the files of your external disk to the hard disk of the Mac in order not to lose them, and then, set up Time Machine. The first backup will start automatically.

When I connect my iPod to my MacBook, nothing happens.
When I connect my 2nd generation iPod touch to my MacBook, absolutely nothing happens. It does not show up in my itunes. My iPod does not come to life and start charging nor show any kind of reaction to being plugged into my computer at all.
I know it's not the USB port because I plugged my camera into my computer to check and that worked fine. My iPod still reacts when I put it into my iHome, so there's not something wrong with the port you plug the USB cable into on the iPod.
I have tried 4 different cables and none have worked. So I assume it's not a cable issue.
