When I connect my iPhone 4, iPhoto opens, but no device or import window option opens?
When I connect my iPhone 4 running ios 5, iPhoto '11 (9.2.1) opens, but the phone does not show up in the sidebar as a device and no option to import the photos pops up. How do I get iPhoto to show my iPhone as a device so that I can import pictures taken on my phone?
Fixes others have found:

3. Turn wireless syncing off on the Phone

When I connect my iphone four to my computer I no longer get the option to load photos from phone to computer. I think i have a driver problem as well. What should I do?
The AutoPlay function on the computer is controlled in Control Panel. Also, there needs to be current photos that have not been imported to the phone for it to start, and also the phone needs to be unlocked if you have a passcode on it. If you have not been prompted to "Trust" the computer on the iPhone and answered that, it will also make a difference.
Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? What makes you think that you have a driver problem? You can take a look at Step 5 in this support document to see if that helps your driver problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 -
I need to update my iphone software, but I get a message saying that I need to transfer my songs from my iphone to itunes first. There used to be a Transfer link on the summary page when I connected my iphone to my macbook, but I am unable to find it now.

I am trying move photos from iphoto to my iphone but when I connect my ipone to my Mac there is no Sync option under the photo dropdown menu. Any thoughts on why?
You will need to do it via iTunes, Connect your iPhone then launch iTunes select your iPhone the click on the photos tab, you should be able to click what pictures you want on your iPhone.

not sure if this is a permanent fix but, ever since upgrading to itunes 11.3.1, my iphone5 seems to finish syncing on its own, now. didn't seem to be a problem anymore. at least after doing only one sync, since the upgrade.
(stiil have a blank "purchased" page at itunes store, though). -
I can see folder as Apple Iphone & also see how much harddisk is full but no acess photos. When clisck to download photos optin error message pops up "NO new photos"
are you using the same Apple ID on both devices? If so, that is the problem. Its much like trying to call your own phone number with a regular phone, you'll be forwarded straight to voicemail.

I understand that your App Store does not show your app updates. Please follow the steps below to help resolve the issue.
1. Close All Apps on iPad: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
2. Sign out of iTunes & App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Tap AppleID > Sign out
3. Reset All Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
4. Reboot iPad
5. Sign back into iTunes and App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Sign In with AppleID

Why does it take 4 to 5 minutes for my itunes program to open? it also frequently freezes while i am trying to work with it. it won't open when i connect my iphone? this is on my desk top with Windows 7.

I wrote an AppleScript that asks me each time I connect the iPhone/camera/etc whether or not I want to open iPhoto. Usually I just hit return and it doesn't open, but once in a while I'll click Yes to open iPhoto and import videos from my phone. I just did it because it's nice to have a little reminder so I don't go for too too long without importing, but not have it slow things down each time I plug in.
Below is the script. Paste it into AppleScript Editor, then export it as an application. Then set Image Capture to open this app when you plug in your phone. Would love to hear if it's helpful for you or if you modify it to use other criteria to automatically import only at certain times or conditions.

When I connect my iPhone to my Mac Mini the Mini opens automatically to iPhoto and just sits with the wheel spinning. I have to force quit to exit. My mini is set to automatically open in Itunes when conncected to an iPhone. Not happening. Any thoughts?
iPhoto SHOULD open if you have photos in the Camera Roll, just like it would with any digital camera.

DougIf you don't want iphoto to launch, open the image capture app, & under preferences select what you want to happen when a camera is connected. iPhoto will only launch if you have pics in your camera roll.
When your phone is connected, on the summary page there will be an option to check to open iTunes automatically when iPhone connects. -
Why am I getting 2 images of each picture on iPhoto when I connect my iPhone to the iMac?
I have been experiencing this problem for a while. However, it doesn't happen all the times.
When I connect my iPhone (4s) to my iMac (running Yosemite), iPhoto pops up on screen, all the pictures from my iPhone displaying under "Devices" (i.e. the iPhone) are all duplicated, meaning each picture has 2 copies displaying. Therefore, I don't feel comfortable uploading them to the iMac, worrying that I may get 2 copies of everything taking up the memory.
Appreciate if someone could help me resolve this problem. Thank you.Before you import unplug the iPhone and plug it back in. That usually will remove the duplicate photos showing and import just one copy.

Thanks for the above input from all. I found, regardless of updates and whatnot... that if I were importing photos from my phone via the USB connection, I had to make sure that in iTunes both "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" and Sync this iPhone over wifi were UNCHECKED.
Open iPhoto after those options in iTunes correspond, and finally the duplicate issue stopped.
