No, you shouldn't need to delete previous versions. The Firefox 4 installer will automatically take care of upgrading your previous version and importing your information into the new version.

Exactly the same problem with me.
Some other threads advice to remove fonts, clean the caches, remove add ins but nothing works consistenty, for some it looks like it works, for me it failed.
What I did not try yet, was to move the Render files out of the malicious library to trash.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select

Seems silly to not allow a rollback from a file repository of previous app versions.

I'm not sure I follow, I have not sync'd the ipad with my computer. I just saw an update in the app store and took it.
I tried to del and install the app from the purchased tab in the app store, that reinstalled v2.1 of the app. This also fails to launch.

Is the installer not launching for you ?
Uninstall the previous version (without removing your customizations) before installing the new version.

The last version of Firefox that I had was the one before 3.6. I stopped upgrading due to it always messing up and not working right for me... whether it be due to vista, or just errors on your part. I have tried installing it over and over again several times, same message shows up. So i had clicked on the link to go download the previous version of firefox... what sucks is that the only version on the site is 3.6.27. I have never upgraded to this. So the second i installed that version, i now am able to open up firefox... BUT it is unable to connect. I have internet... a pretty bad ass connection. So my internet is not the problem. No matter how many times I try to upgrade or reinstall, it always installs an older version that allows pop ups and viruses to keep coming back. How do I upgrade to the latest version of firefox if it only somehow always restores the previous version?

No matter what I do, I cannot upgrade firefox, and as a result, almost every site I go on that no longer supports my browser keeps telling me to upgrade, and I keep getting back unwanted viruses. I installed teh update a few days ago but when I open Firefox it says :"You're not on the lastest version . . ", but at "Help" & "About Firefox" it shows 9.0.1 "latest release". There's a glitch somewhere.

Is your homepage set to www.google.com/firefox? If so, that page is wrong. You should change your home page to about:home or some other site instead. The google.com/firefox page is no longer supported.

I do not have the money to buy a new computer and wish not to be vulnerable using your latest version of Firefox. I want to stay with the previous version.

I saw a previous question from a windows user, but it seemed like it was from a very long time ago (talking about the 3.x.x editions), and all the links on that thread seemed to only have updates of 3. I just want to stay with the version of Firefox before this latest update (10/30/12) that say 16.0.2 doesn't work well with my older Mac OSX. All Firefox 16 versions still work with your OS X 10.5 operating system, but that is the last version that will work.<br />
Firefox 17 will require OS X 10.6 and later.

HT4236 When I sync photos to my I pad it deletes the previous photos I put on it?

I follow instructions and can put say 90 photos from an album but it automaticaly wipes off the previous photos I down loaded. I have an Apple Ipod couple of years old.
Any sugestions as to what I can do.

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit to import photos/videos to the iPad.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Someone did some mayhem, to my " new to me " Apple eMac G4. I came home, (the G4 was asleep) when I woke it, the trash was an eject button, I had two web pages minimized, I went on line and Firefox worked as it had before. After, I shut it down that evening, it wouldn't start up the next day, and, when, I tried, to downnload, it, I get Firefox app could not be launched -10661.
