I am getting the same message when I try to install the latest version of iTunes, I am running on Windows Vista Home Premium. I have tried so many different things to try to correct this and have now completly unistalled it from my laptop..... Now I have no iTunes what-so-ever on it and still can't install it. I found an older versin of iTunes and it installed without any problems, but I can't access it because my library was created on a newer version! Talk about frustrated..... WE NEED HELP!!!!!

try this:
Go to "SERVICES" on your computer and click on it, then when the list of services is present look for "Apple Mobile Device" and click on "Restart the service"
there is also one for iPod Service do the same thing.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component, such as Apple Application Support, won't install normally.

Just got a chance to try this. It looks like updating to version 11 did the trick. It's funny, but I couldn't get it to download through Firefox, so ultimately went through IE and saved to desktop and then installed. About halfway through the download it came up and said it lost connection to server. When I went to download it again it picked up where it left off. It worked. That was all done through IE. I must have Firefox settings messed up because it wouldn't give me the option of saving the download and it wouldn't run. Who cares. Thanks for the help!

I am trying to download itunes (again) but keep receiving (ERROR 7) (WINDOWS 5)

I have been looking up countless forums for the past two weeks trying to figure out what is wrong with itunes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes countless times, I have downloaded firmware, rarr stuff, updated everything on my laptop, I have done everything asked of, yet I keep getting the same exact error,no other error has popped up and this is the first time I have received an error from itunes and I have had countless apple products so it blew my mind that i'm getting all this trouble out of just trying to update the itunes to the newest. What does this mean? How do I fix this? I was just downloading an update and suddenly I am unable to use itunes. I tried to download directly from their site after that and still won't install correctly. HELP!?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
