when I downloaded iMessage beta on my macbook - my msgs wouldnt appear on my phone. then i deleted imessage beta and now imessage won't even work on my iphone 4s anymore and just sends msgs as texts, help!
How dod you transfer the iTunes Libarary to the external drive and how did you restore it to your computer's internal drive?

Downloaded iMessage Beta. Can't sign in.
So I downloaded iMessage Beta today and despite having the proper Apple ID info put in, it says "Could not sign in. Incorrect Apple ID or password." And nothing else. No dice. Any ideas? I really need iMessage to talk to people on campus when I'm in study areas without cellphone service.
Is that the story they're spinning? Apple announced Mountain Lion back in Februrary or so, and provided a developer build. Then they gave a rough ETA, which was clarified at WWDC in June.
So Apple told its developers. Perhaps Serato just figured they'd wait a while before getting going. Are they a Windows developer too? ;-) -

You are probably referring to the DMG file in which Skype comes. First, open the DMG file and then, copy the Skype icon to the Applications folder or another one. Then, after doing that, you will have Skype installed. Finally, right-click the Skype option in the Desktop and choose "Eject" -

I have OS X Lion and the messages beta on my macbook pro. When in messages, if I initiate a video chat there is no audio. I know this must be something on my end because if I'm invited to a video chat it works fine. Please help

The Buddy's Audio can get dropped completely if the speed of your Internet connections are vastly different.
For example the minimum speed for a 1-1 video chat is only 128kbps Upload (As Downloads tend to be faster).
Where I live in the United Kingdom I can only get DLS. This is further subject to the distance to the Exchange.
DLS at less than 3.5 km can be done at 20Mb at most exchanges.
At some exchanges there is roll out of some Fibre optic services.
In most larger towns and cities there is normally the option of a Cable service that offers similar figures.
In some parts of Sweden you can get 100Mbps services.
When the speed from your ISP varies a large amount then iChat will drop Frames to smooth out the Video
There comes a point when so many frames are dropped that the Audio will not make sense and will be dropped.
At about 128kbps a 5% variance will take you below the 100kbps mark (after allowing for the actual connection overheads)
At 10Mbps that 5% variance can be (in round terms) 500kbps
(A 500kbps service is itself good enough for a 4 way Video chat)
My experience is that PC users on AIM tend to only send the Pic at 10 frames a second (Fps). Any slower than this and the picture losses it's smoothness and flow.
You may see different Speeds and Frame Rates when you Call Out compared to when others Call In.
Setting the Bandwidth Limit to a lower figure such as 500kbps (fast enough for 4 way chats) may get around any variances in the speeds you see in the Connection Doctor during a live chat.

JonathanI thought it was doing that also. But I found that if I start a new chat with someone I was messaging before, then the old messages re-appear in the messages window.

i have backed my iTunes with over 10,000 songs on a hard drive and than i reset my computer to factory settings because my email was hacked, when i downloaded the music back to my macbook pro only 2030 were able to be downloaded . how can i download all my music back?
michel p.I usually err on the sideof caution when someone says "downloaded" and take it to mean anything fro actually downloaded, to copies, to imported, to moved (frolder to folder), but even if they were "downloaded"... if the old email was hacked, and subseuqently closed out, that leaves the downloaded files "orphaned" if you will, belonging to the old ID. So, while they may be on the HD, they're inaccessible now.
One of the biggest reasons I NEVER keep anything in my library with DRM employed in it. I bought it. I own it. I'm not going to get locked out of it. -

And it won't come up, becuase it's an app that comes with Mountain Lion and Mavericks. It's not something you purchase separately.
Mountain Lion is OS X version 10.8

I deleted iMessage thinking it would solve a problem I was having if I could reinstall it and start from scratch. Now I can't find where to download the Beta version of iMessage. All I'm finding is that I need to uprgrade (and pay for) my OS.

The Messages Beta came with an Uninstall option in the Messages Menu itself which reinstalled iChat 6 as part of the Process.
As Lion (OS X 10.7.x) does not come with Install Disks it is impossible to Install one app as you could before.
Use Lion Recovery.

When I download PDFs on my macbook I am given the option of saving them to iCloud and in Preview they are listed under iCloud. How can I then view them on my iOS devices? Help please.

You can't share preview files to an iOS device. There are several other options for pdf's such as Adobe Reader or iBooks. -
When I downloaded iWork on my MacBook Air, it didn't copy the application to my other devices. Is that an error or should I buy them again on each device!?
Just redownlod it from the Mac App Store on any other Macs - you won't have to pay for them again. On your iOS devices you will need to purchase the iOS version which is a different program - again, you will only need to buy it the once for all your iOS devices.

A common hangup for updates is corrupted file permissions.
Using Disk Utility, perform a Repair Disk Permissions on your main drive, then re-attempt the update. -
