  • When I go to Firefox the support screen appears, how can I get rid of it?

I log into Firefox and this mozilla support page appears. One day it wasn't there but now it is and I want it gone, but I can't find any thing on the screen showing me what to do to get rid of it. It just shows Firefox in upper Left corner.

You can check the home page setting:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

Back up all data before making any changes.
You may have installed a variant of the "VidX" trojan. To remove it, first open the Applications folder by selecting
              Go ▹ Applications
from the Finder menu bar, or by pressing the key combination shift-command-A. Look for an item named "VidX," "MacVx," "MacFest," "MacMin," or similar. If present, drag it to the Trash and empty. If in doubt, order the folder window by date modified and delete any application near the top that you don't recognize.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't know you need. If in doubt, remove all of them. None is needed for normal operation. You may have more than one that's malicious. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.

  • I made the mistake of downloading adblockvideo and now how do I get rid of all the crap it put in my computer? It still shows up on the Mozilla toolbar after I

I just want to know how to get all of the adblockvideo stuff out of my computer. It never worked from day 1. It is still on the toolbar and I want to know how to get rid of it.

    Problem solved. Thank you!

  • The top bar changed when I downloaded firefox 5.o how do I get it to look like the old style? It also makes all my pages really zoomed out so I have to zoom in to see them.

The new menu bar is all boxy looking and I want the old style back that looked like this http://images.six.betanews.com/screenshots/1100800989-1.png
Also every time I visit a new page it makes it really small so that I have to zoom in to see it which is annoying because before I downloaded 5.0 it was fine.
My computer is a toshiba laptop and I am using windows vista.

Your original had tabs on top, the current one does not. Also I note a dark background, is that some none default theme or persona, or a side effect of system display changes ?
I have noted others comment about pages needing zooming, no idea why that happens on some sytems, possibly something to do with the font changes.
I do not notice much difference between versions screenshot attached Firefox 4 and Firefox 6.0a2 open adjacent to each other.

  • My week old MacBook w/ retina has half of its storage taken up by the "other" category. I don't have any downloads or backups. How can I get rid of it?

I now no longer have any storage and it is only 1 week old!!

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
              iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Ignore any other messages that appear in the Terminal window.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Why do I have grey 'Mac' window bars when a document is floating, and how do I get rid of them?

This is really annoying, as I'm used to working with the new black 'tabbed' look, but I find my PS now looks like this screen grab. How do I switch back to the black tabbed look for floating windows, rather than the Mac traffic lights?

I have Photoshop CC 2014 in Yosemite as well.
If your Interface Preferences have "Open Documents in Tabbed Windows" checkmarked, it should do that without fail unless you uncheck the Application Frame ((under Window menu in PS) in which case documents open in Windows.
Floating document windows will always have the gray bar, no matter the Color Theme you choose in Photoshop unlike Windows 7.
However if you go in Mac System Preference > General and choose "Graphite" under appearance, it will turn off the "traffic light" look and leave you with gray/white window control buttons.
If you minimize Photoshop in Windows, both PS and the Document Window will minimize, but in the Mac version, you can independently minimize the document window and the PS app. As far as I can see, there is nothing malfunctioning. Each OS has its' own way.

  • I get a javascript:void(0); when I am on some sites, how do I get rid of it?

When I am on a shopping website and I try to add something to my wish list or bag I get the javascript:void(0); in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and nothing happens. It doesn't add it to my bag or list. I have tried many things to resolve this but nothing has worked and this only started happening within the last month.

javascript: void(0); is used as a placeholder URL to indicate that an onclick event is tied to the link to do the actual action.<br />
If JavaScript is blocked for some reason then this javascript: void(0); link comes into view.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • I never installed the IOS8 in my iphone 5 but the app is still there as it was downloaded from Apple.  How can I get rid of it?

    Deleting uninstalled IOS8 app

Again, it depends on what you have been using. If you did not request the IMAP account from Comcast/Xfinity yet, then you still have the POP account. However, the phone may recognize Comcast as an IMAP account. You can fool the device to allow you to set it up as POP. You are correct that the POP mail servers are mail.comcast.net for incoming mail, and it is smtp.comcast.net. I don't use a Mac computer, so I'm not familiar with those settings. If it is necessary to delete and reconfigure your account on the iPhone and you have not registered for the IMAP Comcast account, and you and your husband are using the same account, then after deleting the account, when you begin to enter it again, misspell your email address or your password so the verification will fail. Then you get the option to choose between IMAP or POP. You can then choose POP and enter your correct settings. Make sure you enter the username and password even where it says optional, and you will need to use SSL as well.
