When I edit a photo and remove red-eye, iphoto 6.0.4 resizes image

Hi - I am using iPhoto 6.0.4
When I edit a photo to remove the red eye, the image get's resized to, and saved as, a tiny thumbnail on a black background. I then can't recover the image to original size.
Can anyone help?

ian
Check the bottom right hand corner of the window, see the slider there? Move it to the right does that help?
If not, right click on the pic and choose 'Show File', what folder does this take you to?

  • Why when I edit a picture with photo to remove red eyes an then open in Snapseed red eyes are still there?

    Hi
Firstofall I must excuse for my really bad English
I have ann iPad 2 updated with IOS 5.0.1.  I use camaraderie connection kit to import photos from the SD memory card.  Then I browse them with the default photo app, and I make some corrections like removing red eyes effect.  Then if I open the corrected photo with Snapseed the red eyes appear again.  I have tried many times and I am sure that I save changes.  If I browse the photos again I see it correctly.  It is like corrections are not really stored in the picture but Ina sidecar file.
    Thanks in advance!!!!

    Thanks for your answer razmee209!!
Yes, and it shows the picture with corrections..  This is what is strange to me.
I'm amateur photographer and on computer I use Adobe Lightroom.  There when a edition is made, changes are not stored in the original file, but written in a separate xmp file or in the catalog.  So if you try to open an edited photo you cannot see corrections.  To get the corrected file in another app you need to export the photo, this is create a new file with the correncions applied in it.  For me it seems like photo app in IOS work like that.

  • In IPhoto or IPad, when I edit a photo in an existing album, the photo is removed and placed in a new album with only edited photos. How do I keep it in or get it back to its original album?

When using IPhoto for IPad, can I move photos from one album to another? For instance, when I edit a photo in an existing album, the photo is removed and placed in a new album with other edited photos. How do I keep it in or move it back to its original album?

That will depend on the kind of album your photo is in.
Most albums in iPhoto are created automatic by the way you are using and editing your photos, see: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/1.1/#blnkb9b1e2a
When you edit your photo, the edited copy is added to the automatic "edited" album and the view switches to he edited album. But the photo should stay in its original album - do you see something different? Only if you want the edited photo in the camera roll and the photo strea as well, you have to save the edited copy to the camera roll again after editing, otherwise the camera roll will show the original and not the edted version.

First off it would be good to learn how to use iPhoto - editing is one of the most basic operations - what version of iPhoto do you have? Have you watched the videos and looked in Help?
In general you select the photo can click edit - to straighten you use the "Straighten tool" - to remove areas around the photo you use the "crop tool"

    Hi Anjohi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you've edited photos on your iPad and only see the original version when you import them to your computer, the tips in this article may help:
iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • I am new to ipad and iphoto.  I edited a photo and then selected undo, to return it to the original.  Now there is a spinning disk on the screen and the program is frozen. What can I do now?  I can still access the same photo through the camera roll.

I am new to ipad and iphoto.  I edited a photo and saved it.  Then used "undo" to change it back.  The thumbnail shows the edited version and the larger window shows the original version.  There is a whirling disk over the orginal version as if the program is stuck saving the reversion back to original.  None of the other features will work.  Turning it off doesn't help.  leaving it on indefinetely so it will "complete saving" doesn't work.  I don't have some of the keys and choices outlined with other posts about stuck iphoto on Macs.  Any help would be appreciated.

Quit the app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • How do I edit RAW photos and save as jpeg?

HI! I have some RAW photos that I want to edit and save as jpeg. Will the edits compromise the file and how do I then save these edited files as jpegs and will that compromise the files? THANKS!

What do you mean by “Will my files be compromised“?
When you edit a photo with iPhoto you’re Original file is preserved exactly as it is, there are no changes made to it whatever.
will I be able to make a readable disc?
Why not? But what do you mean by “readable” Readable by who?

  • When I export my photos and save them as a jpeg.  Am I still losing information?

When I export my photos and save them as a jpeg.  Am I still losing information?  Would I be better of saving them as a TIFF or a PSD?  Also I know DNG is a digital negative, would that be the better format to save all my stuff?

I apologize if you already thoroughly know all this (I couldn't be sure):
When you export, you don't change the original (i.e. you never overwrite the original). So, you can export a million times and never lose quality (of the original), regardless of the export formats you choose.
Of course the quality of the export depends on the chosen format, and if the format is lossy (e.g. jpeg), then export quality also depends on the size & quality settings.
TIFF is lossless, so quality is essentially equivalent to the raw in Lightroom. It's the preferred format if a really BIG file is OK. Jpeg was invented to reduce file-size as much as possible without being too much inferior, quality-wise - and it does that very well.
DNG is good for some stuff, but don't export your photos in DNG format unless you know what you are doing and why... Lot's of people like converting their originals to DNG format, but that's a whole different kettle of fish...
Note, it may very well make sense to export a jpeg as tiff, since exporting a jpeg as jpeg is not as good. - reminder: when you export, you are not overwriting the original, you are making a new copy from the original, by combining it with develop edits if there have been any.

  • I copied some photos from the main album to a new album. And I need to delete these photos from the main album so as to have them only to the new album. When I select the photos and choose delete I get the answer DELETE EVERYWHERE

Ι copied some photos from the main album to a new album. And I need to delete these photos from the main album so as to have them only to the new album. When I select the photos and choose delete I get the answer DELETE EVERYWHERE. I don't have the choice to delete it only from the main album.

You mean you copied photos from your camera roll to a new album, correct? Well, that's the way it works. The photos wern't actually copied to your new album, just pointers to the actual photos, which are still in your camera roll. So, yes, if you delete from your camera roll, you remove them from your phone.

  • IPhoto, moving photo's to my document folder, and remove thumbnails from iphoto.

iPhoto, moving photo's to my document folder, and remove thumbnails from iphoto.
How to? Please...I cut and paste items, it is removed from iphoto for a few seconds then they appear again.

The photos that are appearing on the mini - are they photos taken with an iPhone or iPad? If so, open System Preferences on both computers and select the iCloud tab. On the mini, click the Photos checkmark off and on the MBP click the Photos checkmark on (if it isn't already), then start iPhoto and select Preferences. Select the Photo Stream tab and make sure Photo Stream is on.

  • When i open a photo and commence work on it in photoshop, a negative like image of the photo appears

when i open a photo and begin work on it in photoshop CS5, a negative image appears over the photo and moves with my cursor----that means i can't use the tools.

Are you using the Clone Stamp Tool or Healing Brush Tool?
as per the screenshot in your other post:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1312277?tstart=0
If so, look at the settings in the Window>Clone Source panel.
    You probably have Invert checked.

  • My Lightroom 3 closed after trying to edit a photo and will not open again.  Help please!

My Lightroom 3 closed after editing a photo and will not open again.  It says Lightroom is not working and Windows is looking for a solution.  I am in a bind and need my Lightroom opened asap.  Please help!

In your operating system, go to the folder where your Lightroom catalog is stored and see if there is a file that ends with .lock
If so, delete it and then LR will open properly.
