I have a iMac G5 which is about 1 1/2 years old. When I eject the cd/dvd the computer doesnt catch the cd/dvd and it shoots out the cd/dvd which bounces off the desk. Is there a fix.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

How do I solve this Nano 3G syncing problem? During the syncing process my music files are registering as audio, but once I eject the IPOD it does not reveal the music files in the music folder.

During the syncing process my IPOD Nano 3G shows that the music files that I'm synching are registering as audio, and that the video files are registering as video, and even upon completion they are still labeled as such. But, when I eject the device from ITUNES and turn it on, the IPOD reveals that there are no music or video files to be played. When I plug the device back into my MAC and, when ITUNES recognizes the device, uder the summary tab the summary bar reads that the files that I loaded are all classified as other files. What could be causing this? I had to re-install my Tiger Software, and since then I've been having this problem.

Problem from ejecting the iPod from iTunes

I don't know why that when I eject the iPod from iTunes, iTunes always show the command text to reject the eject of iPod.
The command show that "The iPod cannot be ejected because it contains file that are in use by another appilcation.", so that I can't eject by this formal way.
Therefore, I post this to find someone help me to solve the problem.

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem, and also, if anyone might have a solution for it.
As of recently, [I don't know the exact date that the problem began, but it's been awhile], whenever I eject a DVD from my iMac's DVD drive [by either ejecting it in Finder, or by pressing the keyboard's Eject button], instead of just coming out halfway like it used to, the drive now launches the DVD across the room.
I'm starting to get annoyed by this problem, especially when I burn something and am not around to catch the disc when it comes flying out, and later find it lying on the floor in the corner of my room.
So does anybody know if there is anything that I can do about this?.
I did that online-chat thing on Apple's website, and the guy told me that I have to bring it in to a service centre, and then disconnected.
I'd like to avoid doing that if possible.
Also, I don't even know of any [or if there even ARE any] that are in Montreal, Quebec, [which is where I live].
Oh, and I bought an AppleCare Protection Plan with the iMac when I bought it last January [2005].
Soooo... Does that do anything for me?.

I had the same thing happening with mine. When I was on with Apple Care, they asked me if I would be willing to send them my computer in exchange for a new one (refurbished). It turned out they new about the problem & are trying to figure it out with computers that are actually experiencing the issue. This was just a couple of weeks ago, so you might call & check about it. They cover all shipping costs.

When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.

The import command only works with audio CDs. So if you burned the files in mp3 format, try instead using the "File > Add file to library" or "File > Add folder to library" commands.

My method is to use the DAW in standard recording mode, and set up the camcorder entirely separately. After recording, I automate the audio mix with fader moves and effects, then export ("bounce to disk") a full-fidelity AIFF, 16-bit 48 kHz stereo file (most videos use 48, not 44.1). I use iMovie '11 to import the video from the camera, then import the stereo audio file and match it up to the camera audio by dragging it into the iMovie Project. Make the waveforms visible, it's not too hard to align.
Then, use iMovie's "Export as Quicktime" feature. Here, by going through the menus and options, you can control the audio compression (for example, 256k instead of 128, although 128 seems to be enough for YouTube).

I have a real problem with dvd drive. I inserted many CD/DVD into disk drive of my MBP but it eject them just after inserting even without reading them. It seems that eject button is stucked.
So I forced a CD to stay in drive (I know I'm ...) and then the CD is stucked there.
Also, when I click the eject button (beside F12), it do not work at all. I means that the eject screen picture do not appear on the screen.
Any Ideas?

At first glance it seems a hardware problem. But I have tried the DVD drive over network with another OS and it works fine. As mentioned in this post "http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2142828&start=15&tstart=0" by "Zungoeie", I contacted Apple store and they said that it's hardware problem and I have to replace my DVD drive (I have no warranty since two month). So as I'm computer engineer, I did not accept that it's a hardware problem as I've checked it with another OS. In the post cited above, one have proposed a SOFTWARE solution which I'm going to try tonight.

Well there is Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck witch includes step by step instructions to run disk repair without the install disk.
But before doing that, it's a good idea to backup. You may want to troubleshooting your superdrive / disk before hand. if I disk repair fails you may need the disk working to re-install the OS.
Dose the computer read any DVDs? if no, you may want to use Troubleshooting the slot load optical disc drive.

There haven't been any problems with the computer, apart from a sticky curser,I have run a permissions programme from disk utility, there were a lot of different ones, but it seem to be able to fix them.

First backup your users files off the machine to a external storage drive (not TimeMachine!)
Most commonly used backup methods
Next to startup from the disk, have it inserted, hold c or option/alt (wired or built in keyboard) and then boot the computer and or select the disk when it appears and click the arrow.
Disk Utility is under the Utilities menu on the second screen.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
If you used the wrong 10.6 disk, it will spit it out or have issues, use the one that came with that machine or if it's defective, call Apple for a new one.
