After shaking are you waiting for the playing song to end to hear what is playing next?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

How do I shuffle a playlist in iPod 5th gen?

I set Shuffle to Songs and go into a playlist, but I see no option for Shuffle All. I have to choose a song, then it shuffles the next one. I don't want to have to select a song to start a shuffled playlist, I want to shuffle it to start. How do I do this?

So the answer is I can't. What's wrong with having to do it myself? It's another step that takes several seconds that I don't have to do on other Apple devices. I thought Apple was about making the most easy-to-use mp3 players on the planet. So why does Apple not want it that easy on this device? So I buy the newer device? All they want is my money? They should add this to their older devices. They have in the past on their 5th gen nano, so they should do it on this device too.

Also, when im viewing websites and i find something i wish to print, same again, if i simply click on the print option at the top right of the screen nothing happens... the only way I can print is if i copy the weblink of the site page then click on my HP eprint app and paste the web link, then select print, it prints off fine.. but its it such a pain to keep copying and pasting links or screen dumping emails just to print...

My ipod 5th gen has been acting up. Its been shutting off at random times and appears to be glitching out. The screen would go different colors and when it would turn back on my recent texts and stuff would be deleted.

My iPod 5th gen has been doing this for awhile, though it progressively got better over time, it still happens occasionally like when I'm out running. My iPod is never able to connect strongly to any WiFi network. All the WiFi networks keep disappearing and then coming back, and this is infuriating because it wont let me sign in to iTunes or IMessage at all or update my iPod easily. My date and time keeps getting off track and every time i set it back to normal it just gets messed up again. Now it wont let me connect to iTunes and receive push notifications. I tried logging out o my Apple ID on my phone but now it wont let me sign back in. WHAT IS GOING ON HELP PLEASE!?!?!

As with all clickwheel iPods, you can reset this iPod by first toggling the hold switch on and off and then simultaneously pressing the select (center) and menu buttons for approximately 5-10 seconds. This is a common fix should your iPod behave unexpectedly or lock up. Once reset, the iPod should display an Apple logo for a few seconds before showing the main menu. This procedure is similar to rebooting a computer and damages none of your music or data.

If you right-click the image and choose View Image Info, what shows as "Type"?

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup. Yo shld be able to make a backup if you previously syncing to this computer.

Then restore via iTunes. The iOS device will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Try a hard reset of the Nano. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
I assume you have double checked to make sure you are plugging the headset all the way in meaning the white part of the headset is flush with the body of the Nano?
