When I exit Firefox and later load Firefox it says its open, although I can't use, have to go to Windows Task Manager and force it to close before I can load it again.

Problem is on a Dell Studio XPS desktop with the i7 processor. Current version used is 3.6.13, although the problem occurred with previous version, and only occurs intermittently. Does not seem to be time related. Sometimes, though not always, there will be two copies of Firefox open in the Task Manager "processes". When I close Firefox, and reload, runs fine until the next time.

Some anti-virus programs (e.g., McAfee) have this rule that can be invoked under the "maximum protection" settings: PREVENT PROGRAMS REGISTERING AS A SERVICE. If that rule is set to BLOCK, then any attempt to install or upgrade iTunes will fail with an "iPod service failed to start" message.
If you are getting this problem with iTunes, check to see if your anti-virus has this setting and unset it, at least for as long as the iTunes install requires. Exactly how to find the rule and turn it on and off will vary, depending upon your anti-malware software. However, if your anti-virus or anti-malware software produces a log of its activities, examining the log may help you find the problem.
For example, here's the log entry for McAfee:

When I close firefox (in windows 7), it doesn't fully close, I have to go to the task manager and end process before I can open it again.

Every time I try to open firefox, a window pops up saying that another instance of firefox is already running (still open from the last time firefox was open) and that another instance can't be opened. To solve this, I have to go into task manager and end the firefox (32) process. I think this started happening after getting the newest version of firefox a couple weeks ago. In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

The plug in container for Adobe Flash eats up 100% of my CPU on a regular basis and I have to go in to task manager and kill the process.

Screen updates become very slow and intermittent. I then start task manager to see what is using either ram or cpu, and invariably it is Plug-in container for Firefox using most of the cpu resources. When I kill the process, I get the message at the top of the browser that Adobe Flash plug-in has crashed.
I understand that Flash is useful/necessary for many applications, but is there a way to limit the resources it uses?

When I close Firefox (3.6.10) by using the x in upper right and then try to start it later, I get message FF is running, you must close first..which I thought I did. Cannot start without using Windows Task Manager and closing process. What is wrong?

See original question. Firefox apparently doesn't close when using the x in upper right corner as when I try to start it again I get a message that FF is already running and I must close it first. I thought the x would do that. Is something set wrong or corrupted?

Firefox always in task manager - it doesn't always close the program since the new update

Since I got the new Firefox 29.0.1 - when I want to reopen Firefox, I constantly have to go into the Task Manager and shut down the process before it will let me in.
I haven't had any Windows updates nor updated/added any new software on my PC since the Firefox update. So I know it has to be Firefox that's causing this bug.
