When I follow the directions for making a blank page my home page, nothing happens. Now what?

The tutorial directions tell me that if I want a blank page as my home page then I should open a new tab and drag&drop the icon over the "home" button on the right. Nothing happens.

The way I did it was like this.
In the location bar, type '''about:blank '''and hit Enter.
Then click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.
Make sure it says "'''Show My home page'''" in the drop down menu at the top and then click the button called "'''Use Current Tabs'''".

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox. 
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder. 
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action. 
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost. 
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.

I followed the instructions for making an APP TAB and succeeded BUT everytime I close Firefox, the app tab disappears upon re-opening. Can someone help please? I held the control button plus I clicked and selected the "Pin..as app tab".

For better or worse, I think it's part of the design for the app tabs to be window specific. I know my first reply didn't solve your problem, but that was one way that worked for me to get the app tabs back when I restarted Firefox. Also I noticed the tag for this post is Firefox 4. I've only tried it with Firefox 5.
I agree with you that the way it's working isn't ideal. For the time being, I've stopped using the app tabs. Maybe they'll fix/improve it soon.

hello Angshumandev42, from your submitted details the user-agent (the bit of information that identifies the browser) does still look like you are using an old pre-release version of firefox 4.
can you please check in firefox > help > about firefox what version number is displayed there... if it is still 4.0b7 please [[Update Firefox to the latest version]] as soon as possible, since running an old version which dozens of known critical vulnerabilities poses a great security risk.

When I close out of Firefox and restart, my home page doesn't start up as it should. Only the previous tabs that were up when I closed out do.
Before, when closing out of Firefox and restarting only my Home Page would display, unless I clicked on save my tabs when closing out.
This is disturbing to me. What is going on?

Were all of your Firefox windows closed? (ex. download window ,popup windows) anyway, I hope they fix this problem soon.
In my case, I notice that when I watch the news from a popup window (msnbc), I will surf the web and then close the main page (keeping the news window open) but when I reopen Firefox it will be the last page I visited, not my home page.

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group of identical tracks to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. This can happen, for example, if you start iTunes with a disconnected external drive, then connect it, reimport from your media folder, then restart iTunes.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping, whether you do so by hand or using my script, in case something goes wrong.
