Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
<b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
*''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

Just noticed that I can open FF in a new window but cannot get to any tabs already opened in the other window. The first time I experienced a problem was when I opened one tab too many. I guess it was over 20 tabs open at once, but have now only 8-10 open.
Just remembered, it could have happened after yahoo installed itself on the toolbar, then as a menu item. I declined this every time it asked to install, but it went ahead and I cannot remove it now.My scroll also doesn't work in Firefox -- but does in Excel and Word. This has been intermittent for months now. Usually, if I reboot the scroll would begin working again until for no apparent reason it quits again. Now even the reboot doesn't fix the no-scroll problem. I have Windows Vista. I even did a Firefox Update to 9.0.1.
I don't have that file on my about:config page so this solution won't work for me.
Thanks in advance for any help! -

****,I have done this successful in the past but on my IPad it shows I have 4 apps that need to be updated so when I hit the update tab all I get is a white screen. When I hit the purchase or other tabs it opens up. What could be the problem?
There have been numerous reports on the forum today regarding this issue. It seems to be an issue at Apple, but no information has been posted on the status site.

I note you have found bp-54df2ba6-de52-405d-9ccc-4dd272110924 have you any other recent crash signatures or crash IDs, the one you provide seems rather uncommon [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/list?product=Firefox&query_search=signature&query_type=exact&query=karasx2.dll%400x2535&reason_type=contains&date=09%2F24%2F2011%2001%3A44%3A07&range_value=1&range_unit=weeks&hang_type=any&process_type=any&do_query=1&signature=karasx2.dll%400x2535 [karasx2.dll%400x2535]]
Do you still get the problem in [[safe mode]] and with default themes, and all plugins disabled. Note common causes of crashes are malware, and versions of the software IDvault. (do you use IDvault ? - often provided by Comcast) -
My hard drive has 70.93 GB available, yet when i have more than one internet tab open, i have to force quit google chrome because 'there is no more available application memory'. How can I solve this? I have a 2009 macbook pro running on 10.6.8. I have tried updating to mavericks through the mac app store but after it downloading for a day i got an error message saying there was a problem with the download. The same thing happens if i try to update itunes or the mac app store. After research, i have also tried repairing disk permissions, but every time they do get repaired the 'repair' button still appears, i'm not sure if it's because it was unable to repair the initial problems or if it just keeps detecting new ones.
2 GBs is a minimum in which you can do many things, but not concurrently. Be very careful to not install third-party add-ons, limit the number of applications you choose to enter in Login Items, run as few applications concurrently as you demand.
I would consider adding more RAM to your computer. Your model supports 8 GBs, so I would install that. -
In ff 36 when siging out of a website another tab opens instead of closing the current tab
When I updated to V.36 this action started . With certain websites when I try to sign out instead of the webpage closing, a new tab opens and the home page of the same website opens. The original tab is still open with my account information still logged on and the only way to log off is to click the X on the Tab.
The problem disappears when I uninstalled Tab Mix Plus. This issue did not happen in the earlier version of FF and I always used Tab Mix Plus with the previous versions.Instead of closing the tab where you logged out, what if you reload it using Command+r (or the reload button in the address bar). Does it show that you are properly logged out at that point?
My guess is that the site is sending a redirect after logout and somehow that is getting diverted to a new tab for some reason instead of loading in the same tab. I don't have any good guess as to why that would happen. You might pose this question on the Tab Mix Plus support forum to see whether it's a setting you can change or a compatibility issue with Fx36:

Hi, on my fathers pc sometimes when downloading multiple tabs start opening and I cannot stop this happening. Could anybody please help me? for example, trying to download TomTom Start 25 user manual
You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.

Firefox keeps freezing up and giving me the colorful spinning wheel especially when I'm chatting with a friend of facebook or when i'm listening to music on myspace or even have just two tabs open and it's never done it before but now it just keeps giving me the colorful spinning wheel and i have to force quit and start over.

Every time Firefox opened
== May 5th, 2010Hi If you get an error message saying your flash is blocked by firewall or needs updating or similar and you just get the spinning colour wheel try this link
It takes you to Adobe which tells you which ver of flash player you have - you can then see if there is a later ver by clicking on the library and it automatically selects the correct version for you to download.
Worked a treat for me! Good Luck

Ps Don't forget to use a browser other than firefox or you will be there for days. -
I usually have 30 tabs opened, and the memory rises in a unexpected way, so that when it reaches 1.2GB, firefox crashes. Also If, for e.g. firefox is consuming 700MB of memory (with a lot of tabs opened), and if i close those tabs and leave just 2 or 3 opened, the memory usage does not drop and remains at the 700MB. Thanks for your attention. Regards, Ricardo

bp-765e3c37-0edc-4ed6-a4e9-7ed612100526I have the same sort of problem with 30-40 tabs, with memory usage growing until crash. It seems a lot worse after restarting from standby mode on Vista - it's often highly unresponsive for a while, then crashes.
I have a fair few plug-ins running, one of the benefits of Firefox.
Is their a way I can log memory use of parts of Firefox, particularly the plug-ins? -
I was working on calendar and opened too many tabs. I am showing 9 tabs open and it affects other sebsites I am now trying to access. The webpage is grayed out and non-accessible. I do not need all the tabs. How do I close them?
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
Help for surfing with hundreds of tabs open
My wife uses Safari in such a way that she normally has about 100+ tabs open on 3 or 4 windows. Not surprisingly she gets freezes a lot and then yells at me ('cause I convinced her to get a Mac). I tell her that Safari is not meant to run like this, but she keeps doing it. And keeps getting frustrated.
Is there any way to tell Safari to use more of the RAM available? Or any other suggestions?
She's on one of the Aluminum Macbooks (2GHz, 4GB RAM and half of her 160GB hard drive is full), running Snow Leopard, and the most recent Safari.Hi,
Safari freezing can certainly be the results of 100+ tab opens and 3 or 4 windows. That's asking a lot from any browser.
Just make sure the startup disk space doesn't fall below 15% of the total capacity of the drive.
Is there any way to tell Safari to use more of the RAM available?
No. 4GB is more than enough RAM.
She could try emptying the Safari cache more often either from the Safari menu bar, Safari / Empty Cache, or Command + Option + E on the keyboard.

Hang time for Firefox 16 every time I open the browser it hangs. Then it hangs intermittently while i am trying to work. It does this about 5 to 6 times during my work load. It only has 4 pages opened up. I normally like using firefox. However I am a tech and I push the limits of my laptop and my browsers. With Opera I have at least 20 tabs opened and when i re-open it it take less time for it to come up then it does firefox. All 20 pages are up and running while i am still waiting on firefox to get unstuck. I have gone into the settings and have tried to reset things. How am I supposed to do that when I can't even get the browser to respond because it is hanging there. I have to force close. I can't even get into the settings because once I do, It hangs and then the settings page is just sitting there for ever. I sat for 20 mins with it hanging just because I wanted to see just how long it was going to keep doing it. I have an AMD vision processor and using windows 7. with 4g ram. so what do you suggest. I like many of the features that firefox offers.....and have been a user for years...I would like this looked into please.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

Firefox is very slow to respond when opening and nearly always stops responding altogether, even refusing to react to the Task Manager "End Program" command. The "not responding" error message also comes up during navigation on line. Several attempt have to be made to get on line. A loss of stability seems to be endemic at the moment.

Spry Accordion - Tabs open and then close after page loads
I am using a Spry Accordion menu driven from a database.
The menu opens up during the page load and then closes.
I'm using SpryAccordion.js 1.6.1
And to open a preset tab, I'm using:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var Accordion1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("Accordion1",{useFixedPanelHeights:false, enableAnimation: false, defaultPanel: 0 });
//-->
</script>
But, all of the tabs open and then close on page load.
My page: http://www.texashotjobs.us/00C01.aspx
Any fix for this??
Thanks, RonWell to both thanks. Actually I wasn't disappointed as I had a two part question...
I tested the 1.6 JS and remembered that I had to modify the 1.4 so that tabs actually would link. So I reverted back to 1.4.
So, going to 1.6 fixed the open panel on load but "unfixed" the panel tab from linking.....
So changing this in the 1.6 js fixed the link issue as well:
Spry.Widget.Accordion.prototype.onPanelTabClick = function(e, panel)
if (panel != this.currentPanel)
this.openPanel(panel);
else
this.closePanel();
if (this.enableKeyboardNavigation)
this.focus();
// if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault();
// else e.returnValue = false;
// if (e.stopPropagation) e.stopPropagation();
// else e.cancelBubble = true;
I t appears everything is working........
Thanks, Ron Gaddis
