When I hold the sleep wake button and the top right button nothing happens

Hi,
I tried to reset my iphone4 and when I hold down the sleep/wake button and top right buttom the phone looks like it will reset but has now been stuck with the apple logo for the past hour...when I repeat that it stays the same...Please help me seems to be stuck, when I plug it into my laptop it doesnt recognise it...

A reset should help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button for approximately 10-15, Seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. Release both buttons and await restart.

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. I pod disabled and cant remember passcode. cannot use itunes as it wants update and restore need to use passcode and the hold sleep/wake key and home key doesnt put it in DFU either . any help ?

My ipod has been disabled as I cant remember the passcode . When doing a restore on I Tunes it will only update and restore , the update doesnt work as the phone is locked and I need a passcode. I have tried the other way which is to hold the sleep/wake key and home key together for 10 seconds but as soon as you plug it inot the pc the ipod boots up so this method doesnt work either . Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

My daughter tried to open a game on her Ipod touch and the screen went white and I can't get it to do ANYTHING...I've tried holding the sleep/wake button and it does NOTHING, still only a white screen.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If that doesn't work, try a Restore:
From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
There's more that you can do. Post back if none of the above solves the problem.
By the way, I always allow "push." That allows the app developer to "push" information to your device rather than waiting for you to ask for it. However, "don't allow" shouldn't cause the problem that you're experiencing.

If the screen appears to be zoomed in, then does tapping the screen with three fingers zoom you back out ? When zoom is on you should also be able to scroll around the screen using three fingers on the screen.
If you are seeing the keypad then that should be for the iPad's passcode, I assume that you have one set ? If the iPad is disabled then I wouldn't expect the keypad to show.

Doing those doesn't turn off your phone?
As stated hold down the top button only until you see the red slider to power off your phone.
If that doesn't work then take it to Apple and see what they say.
