When I import cds, occasionally track quality is awful.

On some cds, even newly purchased ones, when I import them onto iTunes some tracks momentarily pause, giving a kind of crackling sound as it happens.
Is there something I can do to improve the quality of the importing process? No one else i've spoken to seems to have this problem! It's so frustrating.

Well Alot of store bought CDs are protected in a way that the songs are copied to the PC, but the protection software causes it to be all choppy sounding.
Some CDs say something about "Protection" or DRM (Digital Rights Management) in the fine print.
Try ripping a problem CD in another program and see if you have issues.
Also goto the PC makers site and see if theres any Firmware updates for your CD ROM, or the PCs BIOS or IDE controllers. Some older CD ROMs have trouble reading more recently made CDs and its fixed by updating the firmware

  • HT1351 When I import cds to itunes the albums do not contain all songs. If there are multiple artists or a duet, each song shows up as an album.

When I import cds to itunes, the albums do not contain all songs. If there is a duet, each duet is listed as a separate album.
As an example," Genius Loves Company" or "Tuskegee" each are listed as many albums---each album has a separate song.
I spoke to Apple Help and they were of some help, but did not answer the question.

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

  • Itunes restarts my PC when I import CDs

I recently purchased an Ipod Classic and downloaded the latest itunes for PC. But when I try to import my CDs, my PC keeps restarting. Sometimes it will let me do a few CDs then restarts, then just one or two CDs if I'm lucky and again it just reboots my computer. I only have itunes open so it's no other programs causing it and it's only happened since using itunes.
When I import the CD I click 'no' to importing it to my Library, then I manually select the tracks I want and drag them directly into my playlists.
    I'm using Windows XP.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks

    hiya!
I do not get any blue screens and system failure is not checked. It happened again just now when I tried to add a video too. the pc shuts down and gives no error messages.
okay, if it just seems to be shutting down (like someone has just switched it off), it's a good idea to check to see if your PC is overheating, or if your PC's power supply is going bad.
there's a spike in processor usage when the ipod is plugged in. if the PC is running hot, that might be just enough to kick it over the edge into a shutdown (or just enough to throw the power supply into a fantod).
can anyone recommend a good hardware diagnostics utility that TheDaddyUK can use to check on these possibilities?
when it restarts, and the ipod is still connected the system will not boot up until I remove the connection to my ipod.
that one may be a different issue. here is the best place to start with one of those:
Windows PC does not start up when iPod is connected

  • Lost Previous Itunes Music when I imported CDs

I just cleaned out and organized my itunes which I store on an external harddrive.  I imported a few cds this morning (without the harddrive plugged in) and now I only have the cd's in my intunes.  How do I get back the 2,000+ other songs...
Also, I moved all the CD imports into the Itunes on my external and I even clicked on a previous Itunes song and it sends it into Itunes like It's the first time It's being added! Argh.  I really don't want to have to resubmit all the metadata I fixed/added to those songs.
If anyone can understand my confusing request and help me I would greatly appreciate it!  Thanks

    Hello pippenmcgee,
when you imported the CD this morning without the external drive plugged in, iTunes probably created a brandnew iTunes Library.
So what you need to do is to reconnect your external drive and
If iTunes is open, quit it.
Hold down the Option key while you open iTunes.
In the window that appears, click "Choose Library" and select your old library.
Then import your CD again and delete the library you accidentally created this morning. It will probably be located in your Music Folder.

  • Not connected to internet where my library is. When I import cds is there a way to manually type in track info?

My Ipod library is on a computer not connected to internet. Is there a way to manually put track info from cds once they are imported?

Right click - "Get Info", change the ID3 tag.  You can copy and paste album art too.

  • Suddenly...all import CDs have "Track 1, 2" etc....all details missing

What would cause this to happen? I have tried about 10 CDs and some are new....only loads titles as Track 1...no artist...no details...
Help lists don't go into this....any ideas?

I am also unable to get CD track names. When I try to use use "Advanced>Get CD Tracks" I get an error message as follows "CDDB error. HTTP processing error." I have tried turning off all firewall, pop up blocker etc security software - but to no avail.
I have also tried downloading the latest version of iTunes with no result. Any ideas?

  • Album tracks are not under one title on importing cds

When I import cds into iTunes, the album is broken up into multiple albums. How do I get the album together so I can hear the whole thing without having to find another part of the album. I know I can link for playing in sequence, but that's a lot of work. I want to see all tracks in the same album heading.

    Hi john232,
If the albums you are importing into iTunes are being broken up, you may need to mark them as part of a compilation. The following article may be helpful:

  • How do I import multiple audio tracks?

    Hi there...
I have a number of video files that have multiple audio tracks in them. The problem is I can not work out how to get prem to see multiple audio tracks. The files import fine and I have also tried various other formates with multi-track audio.. but only audio "stream 1" is visible in prem.
What I was hoping is that the video would come in with a 2 audio tracks instead of 1 each in its own "lane".. so I can then use the mixer and the audio files are  linked to the video file and in perfect sync.. (just like when you import with 1 track)
NOTE: I am not talking about channels.. but complete 2 completely different audio tracks.. and I know that I could extract these audio streams into wavs and then re-sync them but this seams overkill and a duplication of effort... surly there is a way to have prem support more than 1 audio track on a video file?
    --Me

Well, if PP doesn't bring them in, then best guess is they just don't exist.
There's really no trick or user adjustment for this that I'm aware of.  You import the file, PP sees what's in it.  I've never observed or read about any other behavior than that.

  • Static on imported cds

When I import cds to itunes they are full of static. I have error correction selected, but that doesn't help. It happens on 2 separate macbooks and all my external cds.

    Hi forty fort,
    Are the CDs clean?
    If so,
Is the drive lens clean, try using a lens cleaning disk and see if that helps.
    Regards,

  • Poor audio quality when importing CDs (but only some of them)

I am experiencing a bizarre audio quality problem:
When playing or importing tracks from CDs into iTunes 9.0.2, on some CDs there is very poor quality and an audible crackling (like an old scratched lp)whereas on others the quality is perfect. This translates to the iPod as well.
I've looked all over the internet and am now thoroughly confused. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are hearing it both on iTunes playback and on the iPod, it is probably an importing problem, i.e. the track is bad.
When you import, do your Import Settings use Error Correction? If not, turn it on and re-rip one of the problem tracks.

  • Im importing cds onto my itunes but they are coming up with no track names/artists etc, itunes is saying i have no internet connnection but im on my laptop and im online, can anyone help? ive never had this issues before? they are legit cds from HMV?

Im trying to import cds i got for xmas onto my itunes and they arecoming up with no artist/album cover or track names, when i click get track info it says i have not internet connection, but im on my windows laptop and can get on the internet, is there something i need to so in itunes tmake it rcognise the album details?

    Hey there lollypops21,
It sounds like you are connected to the internet otherwise, but iTunes is giving you this error message when trying to get info from the Gracenote database to retrieve your album info. I had a couple of articles I wanted to recommend you try. First this one named:
iTunes for Windows can't access the Internet if proxy settings are incorrect
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1490
You can always enter in the album information manually with this article if needed:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Edit song and CD information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12360
    Customize song and CD info
You can edit information in the Info window to make it easier to find and sort items in your library. For example, you can:
Group individual movements on a classical CD into one work by indicating the name of the work (for example, “Piano concerto in A Minor, Op. 54”) in the Grouping field.
Group songs that are part of a compilation together in your library by clicking the Info button and selecting the “Part of a compilation” checkbox.
Identify the individual artists on a tribute album in the Artist field, and type “various” in the Album Artist field.
Create your own genre category by clicking Info and typing the category in the Genre field.
Change the order in which tracks on a CD play by changing the numbers in the Track Number fields.
Create a Smart Playlist that includes only songs that are just the right speed for your workout by typing the number of beats per minute in the BPM field. For instructions, see Create a Smart Playlist.
Identify a movie as a music video (click the Options button, and choose Music Video from the Media Kind pop-up menu).
Identify an item that you imported from a CD as an audiobook, so it appears under Audiobooks instead of Music (click the Options button and choose Audiobook from the Media Kind pop-up menu). If you do this, iTunes also remembers your place in the audiobook.
Enter custom sorting criteria for an item. Select the item, choose File > Get Info, click Sorting, and enter the custom text.
iTunes retrieves CD information from the Gracenote media database. For more information, visit the Gracenote website.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • WHY DOES IMPORTING CDS INTO THE LIBRARY SEPARATES ARTIST TO ANOTHER FILE INSTEAD OF IMPORTING THE CD TO THE SAME LOCATION ,AND WHEN IMPORTING ANTHOLOGY CDS THE LUMP SEVERAL CDS TOGETHER AS ONE CD OR PLACE MULTILPLE CDS IN THE LIBRARY

when importing cds to the ipod library song with guest artist are not placed in the same flie they are spread all over the library ,so when playing the file they are not all together missing tracks, also importing anthology cds many artist from different cds are lumped together or multiple duplicate cds are in the library i hate this!!!! help!!!

Somebody PLEASE help me.... I keep getting the "itunes has stopped working" error when I import cd's and that it's checking windows for help. That's it! It doesn't tell me how to fix it. Apple stores or the phone support has been ZERO help. I just need to reinstall all these cds that were lost when I plugged in my new ipod to my new computer!!!

  • When I import my CDs to ITunes it splits some of them into 2 or 3 separate albums. Is there a way I can combine them into one?

When I imported my CDs into ITunes it split some of them into 2 or 3 separate albums. Is there a way to recombine them back into one album?

If your CD has tracks with different artists, then you need to identify it as a 'compilation' CD. Select all of the tracks in the CD, then 'get info' (control-I), and go to 'Options'. Select 'yes' for 'Part of a compilation'. That should fix the problem.

  • ITunes Encountering Problems When Importing CDs

Since I allowed an iTunes update about a month ago (?), I've been having problems importing certain (apparently random) CDs. I import a lot of books on CD, and many times "iTunes encounters a problem and has to shut down." Not always. For example, the book I'm trying to import this afternoon worked fine on the first disc, but not at all on the second. I got the shutdown message after only a few seconds. I always join the tracks before importing.
Earlier today, I was having trouble with a number of discs, but it would occur when the import was much further along. I thought I'd figured out a workaround -- instead of joining all the tracks on the CD, I joined them into two sets, each half the size of the full CD. Then imported them one at a time. Worked like a charm for about 5 discs. Then I started importing a new book, thought I'd get brave and try to import a whole CD. Worked like a charm on CD #1. Then I got to #2, and not only did it only work for a few seconds before shutting down iTunes when they were all joined together, when I tried my workaround, that didn't work either.

Well, thanks for all the help, folks.
After playing around with every permutation I could think of under preferences\advanced\importing, in desparation (because the problem kept getting worse - to the point that I couldn't import any joined tracks at all) I allowed a version update to 6.0.4.2.
    No more problem.

  • TS1362 I am having trouble playing imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking which is a bit like buffering is this a common problem and can i rectify it.

Being new to the iphone I am having trouble listening to imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking a bit like buffering.  Is this a common problem and can it be solved just by addressing a general buffering problem which I already have on youtube but have not rectified as yet.
    Thanks Kaz T

If <alanfromnewtownards> fix fails to address the issue - turn off iMessage and Facetime in Settings.  Settings\iMessage, and Settings\facetime.
    Sync by cable to iTunes.
Leave cable connected, open Settings\iCloud and ensure at least Mail is on and dsplays your Apple iD email -  then turn iMessage and Facetime back on.  Ensure that in the ISettings...\iMessage...\Facetime page that the Receive at field and Receive video calls at email address is the same address as your Apple I.D.
    Resync when finished.
If still having problems with Facetime then check that the required port is open - allowing traffic in your router.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
In some cases you may need to turn on Port forwarding and open the port manually to allow traffic through.  See your router documentation for details.
If having problems verifying, open iTunes store App on your pad.  at bottom of page, click on your ID and sign in. Go to your Account details (re-veryfying and answering security questions may be required to do this) - check all details are correct.
Finally right click your device icon in iTunes and select Reset warnings.  resync when finished.
