When I import pics it brings in all photos recently downloaded, so if I download 10 pics it creates 10 albums.

When I download a picture it doenloads duplicates even though I say not to. It creates a new event with every photo so I end up with a event each time I download.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

Plug your iPod into your computer, it will begin to sync. Now check to see if the playlists have been added.
If not, go to the songs tab under your iPod when it is connected to iTunes, Unless you have checked "Sync all songs (or something to those words)" you should have an option on what you can put on your iPod. Make sure to check the playlists that you want on your iPod.

First of all, and although possibly not related to your problem, I will remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment as been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and usability. As for your problem, you may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Get is a black background. I am using the space travel background in livetype. I export the current frame, but when I try to use the frame, ie extending it to the length I want, it just shows up as a black background w/ out the stars.

I see what you did. When you applied the texture it defaults to applying into the background. It's below the gray separator bar in the LT timeline. Then it's only background. It's not part of the composition. If you want to see it on export drag the texture onto the track above the background bar and hen export it.

If you also backed up to your computer - you can restore from that backup - to retrieve the files. As far as I know- that should have no bearing on deleting them from iCloud - they should still be in that backup.
If you used iOS file sharing with your computer - and saved the files to your computer - you can retrieve them from there.
if the only place that the files were saved to was iCloud, I know of no way to get them back.

So what do you do when you import - a questions for all??

So far I have not had them time to dive into LR 1.1 as I would like to.
Although lately that time has been free'ing up. While I currently do use LR
to import and tag my photos, I have not tried much else except the album
part, but even that has been minimal. I shot mostly in jpeg, but some raw as
well. So my questions to you all, other than just importing as I do, what
else do you do? I mean, do you do auto adjustments as you import? Sometimes,
when I import, I will have 200-600 photos. I know I do not want all of them
and will delete some. And then some, I think I will want to eventually move
into collections to create a digital portfolio of sorts. I know LR is just
in it's beginning stages, but still presents a lot of power.
Secondly to this, do many of you use LR in conjunction with Bridge and PS
CS3 and if so, how do you bring it all together?
I know this could warrant some exhaustive answers, but I think it could be
fun to see what all we do and whatnot and maybe get some ideas from one
another. So let's hear from you!?!?

I don't use any develop preset. I do apply a metadata preset with basic contact and copyright. It also applies a purple label (the only label with no shortcut) which means Rate and Add Metadata. I apply the same keywords as Robert and any others that apply to all photos. I apply the lens and camera tags because folks on flickr appreciate it. Different cameras write lens identity differently so a lens tag is actually easier to use than the MB. After import I'll apply a metadata template for location.
Further use of labels:
none - keep but don't work on further
Red - process
Green - Raw/DNG done
Yellow - full size derivative
Blue - reduced size for web
CR2/CRW files that I process are also flagged as Pick. I export/import a DNG of these to serve as a local backup. The DNG's are not flagged. This allows me see just what I want very easily. I have CR2/CRW files and DNG of the keepers so that I have the native files in case I decide to develop with something that doesn't handle DNG and the DNG's for the possibility that the native Canon files will become obsolete.

How do I change between iPhoto Libraries when I am importing pics to another website?

When I import pics to my website I click on Import photos and the standard apple screen (Firefox Edit in menu bar) comes up so I click on Pictures, then iPhoto, then Events and choose the individual photos, but only the one library shows there. I do know how to change between the libraries when opening the iphoto library by using the options tab, but that does not work in this instance?

Correct - that is not how you access your photos
You use the media browser in the lower left hand corner of the upload window under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

Help! Lost all photos in iphoto

Try to cut all photos from iphoto to extra hard drive, not notice all photo is too big, over 20,000 pics, over 10G.
when click paste, the system died.and all photo gone..
Please help advise how to restore all photos...

Where did you cut from? The Finder for from within iPhoto? If it was from the Finder you've damaged the library. If from within iPhoto apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
To copy your Photos easily to the Desktop in the same order as they are in Events use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with the settings shown in this screenshot:

Simple Slide Show makes all photos landscape. Why?

I am trying to make a simply slide show and all photos are incorporated in "landscape" mode no matter whether they were taken in the usual landscape orientation or in a "portrait," or vertical, orientation. So all the portraits of people where the photo was shot by turning the camera 90 degrees clockwise show the subject horizontally in the slide show. How can I rotate these photos 90 degrees counterclockwise to get them back to the orientation in which they were taken? I opened the Simple Slide Show .PDF in Adobe Acrobat but when I rotate one picture 90 clockwise, all photos in the show are rotated 90 degrees clockwise. John Wirt

Since you said Simple Slide Show, my guess is that you have Elements version 3.
You did not say how if your camera photo files are designating that this was a portrait mode photo. There is an orientation indicator that many (but not all) cameras set indicating that the camera had been turned to portrait orientation when taking the photo.
My experience has been that if the camera is setting this indicator, then when I first view a portrait photo in the photo well, it looks OK. Whereas if the camera does not set this indicator, the photo initially appears on its side and I must rotate it myself.
What did you initially see in the Photo Browser for these photos - as a portrait or on its side?
My suspicion is that there is a bug in the Elements 3 slide show that it is not recognizing this orientation indicator and that is why you see a portrait photo on its side.
If your camera does set the orientation indicator, a circumvention is that before you do any edits on such a photo, in the Organizer Photo Browser well, rotate it 90 degrees one direction and then rotate it back to its original position. Then it will probably appear ok in your simple slide show. This cicrumvention has worked for many people.

Why are my pictures in the "All Photos" Album out of order?

Within Albums there is an "All Photos" folder but some of the photos are out of order. How is this "All Photos" album different to the "Photos" view (which is in the correct order) and why are they not the same?

Thanks, that's a helpfuland explanation of the difference and makes sense as all my photos are actually in an album (which was an event in the previous version).
However it doesn't explain why the order in "all photos" is different. It is not in the order that the albums are arranged, and odd photos seem randomly scattered about separated from other photos from the same album.
On a separate note It's also a shame as there is no way of arranging the albums chronologically (which you could do with events)

That choice is not made by Adobe, but your browser, of which you give no details. 64-bit browsers cannot open PDF files, as the Adobe Reader plugin is a 32-bit app.
