Please use the AppleCare Contact Info link to get the correct phone number in France in Canada. There should be no problems communicating in French using the Canadian phone number. If there is advise them you prefer to speak to someone that can speak French fluently.

I am using os x 10.4.11 on a 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo. I don't believe I can install lion on this system but was wondering what is the highest version I can use?

In order to install Lion you have to have Snow Leopard and then update to 10.6.8:

Personally I suggest that you stop at Snow Leopard. It still is the most efficient OS that Apple has devised and it still works great. Go to the Lions only if there are feature that you really need. There may be a price to pay in slower performance though.

RE: "Access Denied" question following install of Firefox. I have same problem. Details follow: I tried opening in Safe Mode which did not work. I have Administrative access. When I click the general tab in properties I get a message that "firefox.exe" does not exist. Neither that file nor any other "install" type of file appears in the Mozilla Firefox directory except for "uninstall". I have downloaded and tried to install seven times from six different sources, including Mozilla, all with the same results. I've also tried a number of solutions from the web for this error message with no greater success. I tried, first, doing an upgrade then deleted the older version of Firefox and have done "install" since. Avast, Malwarebytes and Threatfire have found no malware.
I have never had a similar problem with Firefox before and I've used it for years. Anyone have any ideas I haven't already tried? I'm tired of using Internet Explorer! I was getting messages that my Aperture Library was full, so made an appointment at my closest Mac store, but have to wait 2 days. They advise you to update saoftware before coming in, so I updated to Aperture 5.3.1. When I open it, I'm asked to update my library. When I select that option, I'm told that my library is full. Now I can't access my library at all. What should I do to access my library? Do I have to uninstall 5.3.1 and reinstall an older version?
Another problem I have recently encountered ... all the up and down scrollers on various screens have disappeared. They reappear fleetingly when I use my up and down arrowa, but I can't always catch them. How do I get my scrollers back?Thank you so much for your patient guidance and screen captures.

My external hard drive is properly formatted for Aperture, so I am currently copying my Aperture library to it. That will take hours since it is copying 101 GB.

I understand that I need to clean some space on my internal hard drive and reformat the Aperture library to get back in operation.
You need to upgrade the Aperture library to be used with Aperture 3.5.1. That will happen automatically, when you first double click the copied lirary to open it in Aperture.
I'll also need to back up my external drive with a new external drive if I make space on my internal drive by removing some photos from there and store them on my current external drive.
What do you use for backup? If you are using TimeMachine it is better to have only the Time Machine backup on the Time Machine drive . In that case would I put the Aperture library and other data on a new drive and keep the old drive for backup. -

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Could also be not enough free space for the iPad to operate efficiently. With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free. For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.
If neither of these suggestions helps, Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. -
