When I link to update add-ons for shockwave I got a trojan!

Question

I followed your add-on link -- wound up with a Trojan which blocked access to my home page (and online email) It also loaded several other add-on of its own ( the only one I can uninstall is called rocket tab.)
It also change some network settings.
I used MS security essentials to remove Trojan.
how could Firefox allow this to happen?
How can I clear Rocket tab from from the notification area
