When I log into iTunes in the top left corner to the left of my Apple ID it shows a credit of 26.47 which I do have.  Why is it not letting me use it?

When I go into "music" to purchase a song a "pop up" comes up asking me to verify my payment information.  When I click on that it's asking me for payment information even though I have a $26.47 credit on my account.  Out of frustration, I entered in payment information and when I went to purchase a song, it still didn't allow me to download.  I don't understand what the problem is.  I've sign out and re signed in to hopefully update my account (as advised by a trainee at the Apple store) but that hasn't worked either. When I go into my account information - it's all there, my name, address, apple ID, even the credit I have. It shows that there is: "No credit card on file".  It shows that I have 2 computers are  authorized to play content purchased with this Apple ID.  What do I have to do to use this credit?

Even if you put a credit or debit card on file with iTunes it will still use your balance FIRST.
I would suggest putting a card on file and testing to see if it will allow you to make a purchase, then removing the card from the account after successful download of an item.
