When I log out my Caps Lock engages

Just a little irritating the next time someone wants to log in. But somehow the caps lock turns itself on. I can't figure out why. What do you think?

There are two applications folders, one under the users home directory (this one is probably empty), the other one is under the top level of the harddrive.  (This is the one shared by all users).  Locate Safari there and drag it to the dock.  You can also use spotlight to find it, located on the menubar (the magnifying glass).  Type Safari and click on it to run.  When it starts, right click the icon on the dock and select Options > keep on dock.

Captfred

  • My account number and password will not delete when I log out from web site MF Global (which is a futures trading account)

MF Global (formerly Lind-Waldock) is a futures/0ptions company that I trade on from time to time. I have logged on my account number and password but when I log out and close the MF Global window and close Firefox the account number and password remain. When I log in to MF Global again my account is still open. This disturbing because a considerable amount of $$$ are involved. I had MF Global's tech department try to cancel the account and password and they couldn't do it. This does not occur on Safari! MF Global suggested it must be locked only on Firefox. Can you help right away??? Thank you. ''[Personal information removed by moderator. Please read [[Forum and chat rules and guidelines]], thanks.]''

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.

  • How can I stop my login screen changing to shrunken dimensions when I log out from my account, it does so randomly!

    Hi,
Does anybody know how I might fix the followin:
When I log out of my user account on my macbook the screen display has started to do weird stuff like change size so that the usual log in screen appears small and to the left, not filling the whole screen, then if someone else in the familiy logs in to their user they may have the same problem within their usual screen, with a small area instead of the full screen to work with. THe remaining screen displays blue, without the chosen wall paper etc. It seems to do this randomly so that logging in and out of accounts, shutting down and reopening can get things back to normal, but only until it goes weird again.
    Thank you for any help.
    Billie

It sounds like a problem wih the backlight inverter. Usually they just go, instead of on and off.
In a dark room hold a flashlight on the display when it blacks out. If you can see the items on the desktop, it's probably the backlight.

  • How do I keep BI Publisher running when I log out of the console in linux?

I am using the standalone version of BI Publisher and I want to keep it running even after I log out of the console. I have a script that starts it so I typed 'nohup start_bipub.sh &' but when I log out it shuts down anyway. I started my apache server the same way and it still runs after I log out so the only thing I can think of is that X is being killed due to the logout and BI Pub needs it. Is there anyway to keep this process running?
    Thanks,
    Denise

It depends on the data path from the tower you're using, through NATs and many routers, all the way back to the server. Which depends on your current location and sheer luck.
For some users, the data path stays alive for 30-45 minutes at a time... thus the phone only has to ping the server that often for push to work. Their push doesn't use much battery.
Other users have the misfortune of being connected via pathways that only keep a connection alive for 5-10 minutes. Their iPhones eat battery like crazy, and they usually end up switching to a 15-30 minute timed fetch instead.

  • Gmail app tab lost when I log out of gmail

I have gmail as an app tab. Since installing ff 7.1 when I log out of gmail the app tab icon is lost and rather than being presented with the logon screen for gmail I'm presented the Gmail approach to email screen which gives me the option to sign in to Gmail. This opens another tab, which is not an app tab, and my original app tab is still present with the Google icon rather than the Gmail icon. All ideas welcome.

It depends on how paranoid you are.
There is a theoretical risk that a site in another tab or window could read through the history of your banking session and extract information, but that probably is very rare.
You definitely want to close the browser before leaving the PC available to another person.

  • Monitor not showing the whole screen when I log out of Xorg/Openbox

    Please help, what happens is..
I log into arch, it boots fine (it displays the loading of daemons in like arabic or something but that's another matter!), I can see everything, I 'startx' into Openbox and that's all fine but when I log out of X it cuts off the bottom of my screen.
I've got a widescreen 1680x1080 monitor and an Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS graphics card and I've tried using nvidia and nouveau drivers.
It only started AFTER i'd installed Xorg, I'd just log into x then kill it and i'd have half my screen missing.
I've tried setting nvidia-settings and editing the conf files in Xorg but it must be an issue outside of X surely, as It's always fine in openbox?
    any ideas?
    Thanks.
EDIT: I did try searching but to no avail - if there's a topic on this i'm very sorry =/

  • Ext Hard Drive Shared on Network - How to Keep Mounted when I Log Out?

I have a USB external hard drive set up as a network share. If I log out of the computer, I lose that share on the network. Is there a way to keep that drive from "auto-unmounting" when I log out of the computer it is attached to, so that it remains accessible to the other computers on the network? Thanks.
Mac Mini Core Solo   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I doubt it, but its a simple matter to drag the disk drive's icon to your Dock and click on it in order to mount it (that's what I do). You could also set up a simple Apple Script or Automator action to mimic that behavior.

  • How do you prevent deleting files when you log out of an account on a MacBook

I have set up a new account for my son on my MacBook.  I set parental controls.  It will not allow him to save files when he logs out.  How can I allow him to save files and then keep them when he logs out?

Selecting all does not help - the issue is I need a table within an incoming email to be moved to excel, edited and then pasted back into a new email. "Select All" picks up the email headers, signatures, any messages around the table etc so that doesn't work. Also, as pointed out above Excel doesn't have a select all feature to get the tables back into the body of an email.
I just tried again going from Excel into Outlook 2011. No luck. All one column down the left side of the email. All columns are removed and text crammed into one column. Just to check I cut from one Excel document and pasted into another and it retained all formating just fine. It is only in and out of Outlook that seems to be the issue.

  • When I log out of my bank account, it says to close the browser. Does that mean I need to close every tab that is open? Thanks!

When using Firefox on my desktop computer, I usually have 3-4 tabs open. Whenever I log out of my banking website, it reminds me to close my browser for security reasons. Does this mean I need to close every tab when I log out of a secure site? Thanks. I'm using Windows 7 and the latest version of Firefox.

It depends on how paranoid you are.
There is a theoretical risk that a site in another tab or window could read through the history of your banking session and extract information, but that probably is very rare.
You definitely want to close the browser before leaving the PC available to another person.

  • Lost all my offline music when I logged out

For some reason when I logged out of my account on iPhone 6 it lost all of my offline music the only thing that stayed was my playlist. Any help on getting this back ? FYI the only thing I use my apology account is on my phone don't have one on computer or anything.

As far as I know is that when you log out, all he local data is removed. Your playlist will always be there when you log in again, but your phone will remove offline music when you log out.

  • My computer locks up when i log out

my computer locks up when i log out

I had the same proplem with my I-Pod and any mp3 I would plug in. I have 4 usb ports on my pc and only one is a usb 2.0. I tried each one until I found it and my pc did not freeze and it is charging right now as I am typing.
    Steps
    1. right click my computer
    2. click properties
    3. click hardware
    4. click device manager
    5. double click universal Serial buss controllers
    6. depending how many usb root hubs, hopefully you have one that says USB 2.0 Root Hub
that is the usb port you have to locate and use
If that does not work try updating the drivers by double clicking USB 2.0 Root Hub and follow instructions.
I have Windows xp and windows 2000 on this PC and I am using 2000 Primarily. The steps might be a little diff. with XP but it should be close. I'd have to reboot into XP to see.
    Good Luck

  • Why did terminal open full screen when I logged out?

I tried to log out of my account this morning, only to be launched into a full-screen terminal. It was very unnerving, especially after the events that led up to this occcurance.
My computer was acting a bit funny this morning. First it wouldn't connect to the internet, but it said my I was receiving a signal. Checked my Network prefs. They looked normal. Decided to check my Sharing prefs. I notice my firewall was turned off. When I go to turn it back on, I get the spinning beach ball. Five minutes later I force quit, restart System Prefs and have another go at it, only this time the System Prefs are locked and it won't let me unlock them. And that's when I decided to log out and then log back in . . . But I never did.
After seeing the big black screen with the blinking cursor I paniced. I shut down the computer, let it sit, and then started it back up.
Any idea what the problem was?
