When I move curser, I am erasing entire screen! what's going on?

I have a 8 month old macbook pro that suddenly turned into a spoiled brat. Everything seems to have developed "problems"...but my most recent one is, occasionally my curser decides to erase my screen to black as I use it. Almost as if I were using it in a paint brush mode and the only way to stop it is to force shut down with control>command>del. Why is this happening?

Get a Self-Powered Hub, your drives are using more power than the USB bus can supply.
