When i move video to imovie  video becomes distorted.

i upload the video from camera to imovie no problem, when i edit and download to face book or other format the video is distorted and blurry

Try this:
Go to the Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Under the 2 pulldown menus at the bottom of the window choose for Export: Movie to MPEG-4
Under the Use: choose LAN/Intranet
Click Save and save it to the Desktop
Open the  Facebook web page and upload that video directly using the web browser. See if the video still looks blurry

I  wonder if another provider would really be much different?  Read some of the other carrier forums - seems to be the same story everywhere.

  • Problem when exporting movie, video stops after 2 minutes

I set up a Project containing both images and videos. They were all shot using a digital camera (Canon SD400).
When I export the 5 minute movie, around 2 minutes the video freezes, but the music (from an mp3 file) keeps playing. At 2 minutes one of the videos start to play and the video has a little yellow button showing on it in the timeline. None of the other videos have this little yellow button, although I am not convinced that this is the one causing the problem. Here is an image of it:
    http://dombovari.com/stuff/imovie.png
Any ideas why the video playback would stop when I export it? It plays fine in iMovie when I preview the project, but when exporting, the video playback stops.
    Thanks!

I have this very same problem. All 640x480 clips shot with a Canon SD550. iMovie 5 will play back everything fine in iMovie, but once I export the file using H.264 or MPEG-4, the video stops after about 30 seconds (of the 3 and half minutes of the video). The music still plays, but the video has not exported properly (and it shows in the file size).
What WILL work is if you export it to web, but I can't use that. I need it exported at its full quality. (Also will not work, by the way.) But, again, it plays in iMovie just fine. I even tried exporting from the timeline file (with the reference media files) in the iMovie file package—but I get the exact same results.
Quite frustrating considering it works in iMovie just fine. Any other ideas, folks?

  • Why do I get a black screen when I move video to laptop

    Hey
Not sure If this is an io6 thing, before I upgraded I simply plugged my ipad into my windows laptop went to the right folder and copied the video across, no probs.
Now when I do this QuickTime opens but it has a black screen although the sound is there.
What is going on, nothing I do seems to fix it. I have used imovie on ipad for some videos although it is effecting those that have not been through imovie as well.
    Any suggestions.

  • When I move video clip, my audio clips (unlinked) split ??

I have separate video and audio clips on the timeline (they are not linked).  When I try to move a video clip (or multiple clips at one time), before I let go of the mouse, the audio clip(s) below the video split, so that they are before and after the moved video clip.  They are not linked together.  How do I move a video clip without affecting anything else?
    Thanks.

This might be helpful from some of my old notes. The ripple behavior can be overcome by the use of the CTRL
button. However it depends on whether you press CTRL before or after you start moving the clip. When moving clips
around in the timeline there are 4 basic types of movement Lift, Extract, Insert and Overlay:
The first two, Lift and Extract have to do with how the clip is moved OUT of it's current position. To see what I
mean, hover your mouse over a clip in the timeline, then press and release the CTRL key while watching the status
text string in the lower left of the application window, you'll see that holding CTRL before clicking and dragging
triggers the extract behavior (which tells the timeline that there is a gap being created that should be closed)
but clicking and dragging with no CTRL modifier allows the Lift behavior (which tells the TL to ignore the gap)
The second two, Insert and Overlay have to do with how the clip is placed IN to it's new position, that is,
whether it is Overlaid over exisitng footage without any ripple movement or Inserted within the existing footage,
causing any following media (including that on other tracks) to be rippled forward.
Since there is no way to lock down tracks in PE, you must always be mindful of what this default rippling behavior
is doing to overlapping media on other tracks.

  • White Screen When Streaming .MOV videos

    Hey everyone -
Any thoughts as to why I'm seeing a white screen (no video) and audio when streaming a .mov file from a website?
The computer in question has Quicktime 7.7.2, plugin is enabled and is running Windows XP SP3.
I've tried removing and reinstalling Quicktime, upgrading to 7.7.3 and downgrading to 7.7.1 - no change.
The issue persists using Firefox, IE 8 and Chrome.
I can play the video fine on my MacBook Pro (running Lion) and on another Windows workstation - different PC model but everything else is the same.
Any troubleshooting suggestions would be fabulous.
    ~Lyssa

Went through and disabled any plugins that could be grabbing it & no joy...I can get it working on another PC that is absolutely identical (same graphics card, software installs & network configuration).  Most puzzling!
I think we'll just download the videos from this point forward and try the plugin periodically; eventually it'll start working again.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Audio Glitch When Exporting Movie Files in iMovie

I've split ambient audio from my footage and restriped a music track over. When I playback within iMovie, it's fine. But when I export the movie out, the are still remnants of the original audio in the playback. How do I get rid of this glitch?

Is it possible that you are running iMovie 09 (which is Version 8.0.6)?
There is a glitch in iMovie 09 where if you use sped changes (fast motion and slow motion) and choose custom percentages like 38%, 59%, 133%, it will cause unpredictable audio artifacts when you share.
THe solution is to change all your speed changes to one of the presets, like 25%, 50%, 100%, 150%, 200%, 400%, etc. These are the tick marks on the slider.

  • Video is distorted when transferring from a VHS

I have tried several times to transfer VHS tapes into iMovie on my MacG5 via a pinnacle movie box dv. The tapes tends to start transferring well, but then I see momentary glitches where the video becomes distorted and the sound pops. Any idea why this could happen and how to prevent it?

There are no settings on the PInnacle to adjust. I have used the Pinnacle before, and every so often I will get these slight glitches. Its strange - you might think its the pinnacle, BUT the same glitch happens at the spot on the tape every time which may lead one to think its the tape. But if I play the same tape on my TV, there is nothing wrong with it. Any ideas?
Could it have anything to do with the FW ports on the G5?

  • Footage becomes distorted

I have a movie that plays fine with quicktime and looks great when brought into FCE 3.5.1. But after I export it and a few other movies edited together using the 'Quicktime Movie' option, a large area becomes distorted for a few seconds. I guess the best way to describe it is that the picture gets a bit wavy. There's a fair amount of movement in this area when this happens. This seems confusing to me as I'm not compressing the video or anything.
Does anybody know why this is happening and what I can do to eliminate it?

    Michel-
The file I got was an uncompressed Quicktime .mov file of a TV commercial. It came from the editing house that handled the post production. That file is around 1 gigabyte in size. It's so big, I can't even play it on my machine with Quicktime, which they warned me would happen.
What I did was open the file in Quicktime and then export it using the DV/DVCPRO setting (NTSC). It is this file that has the distortion. Somehow when Quicktime compresses it, it added some distortion. Ugh.
I was able to fix the problem by simply importing the original uncompressed Quicktime .mov file into FCE and then using that. Strangely, the file plays fine once imported into FCE. I'm under the impression that unlike iMovie, FCE does not do any compression or conversion of files when importing.
Now here's the weird thing. When I exported it (along with some other movies) using the compressed version, the resulting Quicktime movie was about 800+ megabytes. Now when I export it using the original uncompressed version, the resulting Quicktime movie is still 800+ megabytes. I'm not using any compression when I export. Shouldn't the new file be much, much larger than the prior version? The compressed file was about 100 megabytes and the uncompressed I'm now using is about 1 gigabyte.
Does FCE employ some compression without me knowing it? Any input or knowledge about this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks/Merci Beaucoup

  • No video when using a movie edited in iMovie

    Hello
i need some help. I imported and edited a movie in iMovie which I know would be too big to make in iDVD so I decided to use Toast 7.
I got the QT movie from the iMovie file and dragged it to Toast to make the DVD. It encoded it just fine but when it was done, the audio was there but no video. It was all black.
now when i did a preview, the video and sound was there.
How did this happen? any way to rectify this issue?
    Thanks

    Hi BM:
You need to remove the chapter markers in imovie prior to burning in toast. it's a known Roxio bug.

  • Audio and Video become increasingly out of sync when watching a movie.

When I watch a movie from my itunes folder (purchased) the audio and video become increasingly out of sync. It is like watching an old Godzilla movie. I am using itunes on a Dell XPS M1530 running windows 7. Does anyone have a solution to this? I am not sure if I have a hardware problem or a software problem.
    Thanks,

  • When playing movie in project window it cuts part of the video screen

I purchased Call Recorder for Skype to record my girls violin lesson over skype with their teacher in Bermuda. Now I need to cut certain parts of the video so we can play it during practice .. I don’t want to play the entire video. I had the Record Video set to "Two Track (Advanced)". I imported the recorded .mov file into iMovie. Then I skimmed the video and selected the part that I am interested in and dragged it to the project window. Now when I play the movie in the event browser, it plays the movie as I would like to side by side. However when I play the segment that I selected in the project window, it cuts 1/2 of each window which is not what I want as I would like to able to play this clip showing both the teacher and the student. What do I need to do???? Help!!!!! Thanks!

    Hi Runa,
There are a couple of things you need to check. Firstly, click on the small gear icon at the start of the clip (segment). Select "Cropping, Ken Burns and Rotation" from the pop-up menu. In the top left corner of the Viewer, click on "Fit".
Secondly, in iMovie's menu go to File>Project Properties. In the window that opens select the "Timing" tab. For the items "Initial Photo Placement" and "Initial Video Placement" select "Fit in Frame".
You may need to follow only the second suggestion, as this may fix the whole project for you. Otherwise, use the first suggestion for each of the clips (segments) in your project.
Also, in the Project Properties General tab ensure that you have set the correct Aspect Ratio for your project, that is, Widescreen (16:9) or Standard (4:3).

  • When I import video from my iphone to imovie it doesnt look right, it makes everyone look wider and shorter. Is there a way to fix this?

When I import video from my iphone to imovie it doesnt look right, it makes everyone look wider and shorter. Is there a way to fix this?

This is close.  I did a bit more digging I have found a few more things.   It appears that the input dialog is a read once on connect and then it never updates.  I had my iPhone connected to my Mac when I did my convert from FILMiC Pro to my Camera Roll.  Just on a whim, I dissconnected my iPhone with FCPX open and then connected it again.  This time when I opened up the Import window the movie I converted showed up.   It appears my issue may have simply been related to the specific series of operations that I happened to use at the time I was trying to perform an import to FCPX.
One last item of note.  There is a movie in my Camera Roll that FCPX still does not see.  This was a movie shot by my son-in-law of my grandaughter on his iPhone and then it was sent, via message, to my iPhone.  Obviously it is a highly compressed video of unknown compression and frame rate.   Regardless, FCPX does not see this video.  I'm guessing it is not a .mov quicktime file but some other format specific to imessage video.
Thanks for the help Russ.  It at least pointed me in the right direction.  I understand why no one else could comment as I'm guessing no one else has had an issue.  A very subtle "feature".

I recorded a video vertically on my iphone and when I downloaded it to imovie it distorted it.  How can I fix this?

Just called in Apple Care for the same issue. All you need to do is go to the itunes  file scroll down to the bottom where you will see the cammand Transfer  purchases from " insert your name"iphone. It will automaticly download your purcases to itunes and place it under Purchases,it will also place the movies and shows in the apropriate folders in itunes. In addition there will also be an additional folder under Store in itunes that will list the purchases under the device it was puchased under for example  Purchased on Pinkiesipone
