When I open a new tab, it is opening in Chrome, and i want it to open in Firefox

Whenever I open a new tab, instead of another Firefox window, it opens in Chrome, I don't want to have this happen, how do I undo it?

Those "add-ons" or "extensions" are not working for me.

This has been going on for a while with me. 3 months ago I uninstalled FF then re-installed but it has same problems.
Found about:config but wasn't sure if there is a solution on that screen.
Uninstall again? Last time I uninstalled FF, I saved the bookmarks. But the re-install already had them in when I first opened. So I don't think i did that one correctly.

You need to figure out what you have installed which changed that action to Yahoo from a blank tab, which is the default action in Firefox; and then get rid of that add-on. Then you can can install an add-on which allows you to select what you want in the new tab.

When you open a new tab (or ''about:newtab'' in adress bar) you should have thumbnails of most used webpages. If you see white page, you should have button in top-right corner enabling this feature.
You can manage thumbnails, pin them or remove.

Firefox freezes when it recieves a "-new-tab" command

Hello,
I am using a c# program to send Firefox some commands.Everything works great, but sometimes when I send a -new-tab command like:
"firefox.exe -new-tab http://www.google.com"
Firefox freezes for few seconds before opening the new tab.I tried removing all the parameters from the command and just send "http://www.google.com" to the system while Firefox is set as the default browser, and the same problem arises again.
I also tried doing the same while Firefox is in safe-mode and still the problem appears sometimes.
How can I troubleshoot this and know what makes firefox freeze for those few seconds?.

Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support. This is a really difficult issue and I'm not sure that this is the appropriate place to get assistance with it. Do you have the same results when you open Firefox through a command prompt rather than in your program?

When I use Firefox 3.7 , when I start a new tab by myself it can automate go to my home page....
But now after I update to Firefox 4, it cannot do that about more... I have look at the options already...

Make sure your extensions are up-to-date if you are expecting opening a new tab ("Ctrl+T") to show your home page. Firefox has no option to do that. (bug [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269664 269664]).
These are two extensions that can do that -- New Tab Homepage (7KB), or NewTabURL (47KB).

The firefox theme(Lava V1-purple) I installed does not show permanently its background image because it quickly disappears when I click a new tab.. how can i fix this???

I want my background, that is provided by the theme, to stay pemanently when i click the new tab button because the white background for a new tab is totally not my style..

Seriously - what could they have possibly been thinking? Mozilla, please tell us this was some kind of mistake. Accessing our bookmarks in FF-mobile is just plain bad as a user experience. And now without "Open In New Tab" we are supposed to drill down to our bookmarks for every tab we want to open? FF-mobile is almost useless without "Open In New Tab". Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Firefox 4 and later versions save the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session. 
Use "File > Exit" or "Firefox > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox") if you want to restore multiple windows or otherwise have problems with restoring tabs. 
You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time. 
You may need to click the orange/gray Firefox button to see History. 
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.
