When i open a pdf in safari all i get is a black screen

Trying to view a pdf in a goverment web site using safari i get a black screen if i switch and us firefox as the web browser i get a white screen
i have no problems viewing the page on a P.C. machine it works fine . any suggestions?

Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

When I go to the iTunes store, it won't open. I don't receive an error message of any kind, just a blank black screen. I have tried to access the store on other devices in my home and it works. All my music shows up in my library, but nothing will show up when I go to the actual store. I have updated my software and made sure the date/time are correct. I'm expreriencing the same conditions with the same environment. Windows 8, iTunes-64 11.1.2.32, iTunes Store with a processing bar up to 80 +/- and the POPUP MESSAGE OF "iTunes stopped working. The error ...."
I UNINSTALLED, iTUNES WITH NO POSITIVE RESULT. I CHECKED THE FIREWALL AND IS THE SAME DEFINITION AS THE PREVIOUS ITUNES VERSION.
My iTunes StoreS from my iPhones ARE OK.

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video.

Make sure all of the videos used in the project that is having that problem are from the same event. If they are from multiple events, move them all into one event.

Why were you trying to start in Single user mode or Command-line?
Do you have the OS X system install-restore DVDs?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Installer states it has been installed but all I get is a black screen. What can I do?

I have an iMac and I installed the Adobe reader to open messages and information. The installer stated I was finished but all I get is a black screen when i open a page that need the Adobe reader. What can I do to fix this?

Download and install AppZapper (it's a free trial)
Download the offline installer: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Save it, but don't run it yet.
Quit Safari
Open AppZapper.
Go to: Mac HD/Applications
Dragthe Reader 11 Application to AppZapper from there, and "Zap it".
Close AppZapper.
Go to: MacHD/library/Internet Plugins
Trash the AdobePDFviewer.plugin from there
Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin also
Empty the trash
Mount the DMG and run the installer to reinstall Reader
When it finishes, reboot and open Reader from the Applications folder
Accept the License Agreement and then close Reader
Relaunch Safari
Go to: Safari>Preferences>Security and make sure that "Allow all other plugins" is checked
You should be able to open PDFs in Safari

My iMac 8.1 was slowing down and had permissions problems. I backed everything up, and then re-installed. Now all I get is a black screen. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: HDD-1336. Help!

My iMac 8.1 (10.6.8 ) was slowing down and had recurrent permissions problems, mostly with Java. I backed everything up, and then re-installed from time machine. Now all I get is a black screen which says I need to reboot. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: 4 MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1336 or HDD-1327. When I reboot from the OSX CD and start disc utilities everything checks out OK. When I reload 10.5.2 from the OSX CD everything seems to work OK and no more permissions problems. But then I loose all my email and safari stuff. Anyone have any ideas short of going back to my old PC?

No unfortunatley it's too old, you are referring to Target Display Mode which became avialble in 2009, your 2008 needs to have the HD replaced. I'd still do that if everything else is OK or you can simply buy a new MM and display or even a new iMac or an Apple refurbished iMac to save money.

I am running OS10.10.
EVERYTHING is up to date.
Both are on the same wifi network.
iTunes will play from the iMac (10.10.1) to the Apple TV (7.0.1) video and audio no problem iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 (8.1.1) also. I can NOT select Mirror iMac at all.
AppleTV is up to date also.
When i open the icon on the menu bar, I can see Mirror iMac and Extend Desktop.
Only Extend Desktop can be checked.
I have restarted the Netgear R7000 router (up to date), the AppleTV, and the iMac.
No luck.

Mirror to iMac WILL NOT work. I try clicking on "Mirror iMac" from the Airplay menu but nothing happens. I tried restarting my router, restarting the computer... no luck. Also, I have never had the AirParrot software that people have mentioned on my machine ever. I'm using late 2011 27" iMac, apple TV (3d gen - 7.0.2) and OSx 10.10.1. Any ideas?

In Safari, open your Preferences, go to Advanced and check the "Show Develop menu in the menu bar"
This will add a new menu at the top.
Go to the Develop menu, User Agent and select a different choice which allows Safari to spoof different browsers, OSs and devices.
Selecting Safari for iPad usually works.
However, the choice is page specific. it doesn't stick if you go to another page, you need to repeat the procedure again.
