When I open a web page, the page is grayed out.

When I open a web page, the page opens, but is completely grayed out and does not respond to touch.  When I touch the icon that inidicates the number of open web pages (from previous visits), it does not respond.  What is the problem?   It was working yesterday, and my internet connection is fine.
