when i open final cut pro x  when it starts loding the projects it shows the spining beach ball and is stuck wat can i do?

Possible  corrupted project or media fies. Here's what I'd suggest.
First trash preferences. If that doesn't work…
Move your Final Cut Projects folder into a folder named Hidden Folder. See if FCP then launches. If it doesn't hide your Final Cut Events folder. Once FCP launches successfuly, create a test event and project.
To track down the problem, successively move load events and projects from hideen to their proper location and open FCP. When and if you get the crash you have hopefully located the problem.
The easiest way to do this is to purchace Event Manager X ($5).
Good luck.

so this means that all my work isn't completely gone?
Your work will still be there, you just have to go through Updating your older pre 10.1. stuff to the new Library model way of doing things.
Follow Tom's suggestions to the letter and things should go smoothly.

  • Can't open Final Cut Pro after the migration

I bought a new iMac (21.5 inch: 3.2 GHz) and migrated all the files from my old iMac, which I brought in 2006 or so. When I tried to open Final Cut Pro (Version 5.0.4), an error message shows up and says "Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly" and I can't even open the application. Here are the details. Can anyone help me fix this problem? Thanks.

    Two problems
    Never migrate a pro app.
In your case the underlying issue is v5 is not compatible with intel processors
The solution is to purchase the upgrade to the current version, erase your hard drive and install the system and pro apps fresh from the disks

  • Problem with opening Final Cut Pro X

I had just moved the 'Final Cut Pro' folder with the events and projects from movies into my own folder. I also had just added another desktop (Dunno if that is part of the problem).
Since then, when I open FCP, it has a message saying 'The selected location is already in use.' 'The storage location "BlakeHay48" on this computer is already in use by "BlakeHay48" on "Blakes-iMac". To access the location, quit Final Cut Pro on "Blakes-iMac" or remove the location.' I pressed okay and then also found all of my projects and events had gone. I thought at first it could just be because I opened it in another desktop, even though that shouldn't happen, but then when I tried to create a project or an event it would say 'The operation couldn’t be completed. Cannot allocate memory'
Then I realised it could be because I moved the files, so I moved them back, but nothing changed. I have deleted the app and re-installed it, but nothing is working. Can someone please help me?
    Thanks-

Thank you so much. Can't believe I didn't think to restart it. Thanks

  • Can't Open Final Cut Pro X

I can't open Final Cut Pro X.  The problem seemed to start when I deleted some old backups.  Help?

Close FCP X and re-open holding the Option key.
This will allow you to create a new Library, do so.
If the newly created Library works OK then there is a corruption issue in the current one that doesn't open.
Try a backup, usually found in your Home>Movies folder.

  • Why can't I open final cut pro x

I moved one of my libraries in FCPX and haven't been able to open the program since. It starts to open, then just sits on "resoring with window layout."
    HELP!

Thanks, Russ. I figured it out. (Google is a wonderful thing.)
Apparently, when I was moving things around -- yes, in Finder -- I messed with the folder that saves your preferred window layouts for each project. I didn't even know that existed.
Basically, I followed the steps perscribed on the FCPX site, which had me locate the layouts folder, deleted the folder, and opened Final Cut from scratch. Once I deleted the folder, it opened on the first try...and I could breath again.

I can't open final cut pro.
I tried many times but always same message.

GSP-1101 is digitech guitar multi effect for.  I erase that app but still same.

  • Opening final cut pro

    to whom it may concern,
i am working with only wmv files, which already is a hassle in itself. whenever i open final cut pro it prompts me with a screen that says "importing" on it. i figure final cut is importing all of the wmv files from previous projects or maybe information from the scratch disks, im really not too sure but it is kind of an inconvenience every time i want to open final cut up. ive turned off the "open previous project" in the settings. is there anything else that can be done because that does not seem to work. thanks.

Hold down the Shift button whilst opening FCP and you'll start with a clean FCP, no previously opened projects.

Hi Carsten...good luck with your project.. I had just about as many Video8 & Hi8 tapes as
you that I digitized and eventually brought into FCPX..took me many months not weeks
to do so,BTW, as each tape was 60-90 minutes in lenght...and many hundreds of
gigab ytes of storage ( uncompressed AVI files)..it's tedious work unless you plan to farm
it out to a processing house...also regarding eventual storage format...remember
Hi8 is 400 lines or about 540X480 in todays resoultion metrics..you can't make hi-def out
of source that starts out as 400 lines...in my case I rewrapped the avi files into .mov
containers and imported the mov files into FCPX where I got rid of the hundreds of
minutes of Colorado mountain landscapes to get to that one minute shot of the kids
on horseback  ( late 80's for most of my archives)..so its a job..scouring thru 30X90 min
of source to not miss those precious memories takes diligence and hard work but its worth
it; eventually I encode the uncompressed video I want to save in H.264 format Staandard
    Def not HiDef

Generally any Mac made since 2009 can handle FCP X.
Your small screen is not ideal unless you are young and have good vision.
However, you needn't ask whether or not your computer is suitable as you can find out yourself by downloading the free 30 day trial.

In addition, to get you up to speed with FCP X, you can also watch 2 hours of free video tutorials here

To Final Cut Pro X? You want it, you just buy it. No separate upgrade pricing.

It's says under several projects 'missing file' - but they were all there working fine before I updated. I am working off 2 external drives - not sure if that would make a difference.

After the update each seperate connected drive should now have a seperate Library.
The older Projects and Events folders would have to be at the top level of those drives go be seen and updated.
Were all the necessary Projects and Events in the corrrct place before updating?

Hey ppl,my macbook is not booting and by that i mean u can hear the audio wave when its starting up,the screen goes white and then after a while there's a folder with a question mark in the middle of the screen...anyone,any ideea?!?Regards.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the hard drive data is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then select the First Aid Tab run Repair Disk and if that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.
