Why did in the right-click menu the "open in a new tab" and the "open in a new window" -buttons change places? And can you change it back?

With the Firefox 4 RC, the "open in a new tab" and the "open in a new window" -buttons have changed places. For some reason when i click on to a new site or link, tabs no longer automatically open so if i forget to manually click on the little plus sign at the end of the tab strip, my new destination replaces where i currently was. I'm using FF 34.0.5 (I like it). I use to be able to right click on a link, within an e-mail, and the link would open in a new tab. Now when I click on the link it opens in the same tab replacing my e-mail.
Example - a friend sends me an e-mail containing a link to a web site he thinks I'd like. I click on the link and go to the web site and then go back to the e-mail tab and reply to him. Now, when clicking that link, my e-mail disappears and is replaced by the new site.
How can I fix this? When this happened once before I was told to change the 'value' for a specific 'preference name' through the about:config page.
Can anyone help jog my memory?

When I open an email message in a new tab it automatically opens a reply

I have two email accounts. In one account when I press "enter" or double click on a message it opens a reply to message. If I right click on the message and select open in new tab it opens properly. The other account opens messages correctly. I believe both account options are set the same. How do I get it to open messages for reading by just double-clicking again on that account?
I fixed it by updating the folders for archiving messages and for drafts.

When highlighting and rightclicking a link to open in a new tab, it doesnt open anything. (after latest update)

ever since the latest update the other day (9.0.1), whenever i highlight a link and right click for options to open link in a new tab i get no response. not sure if this is actually a question. is this a bug? not sure where to look for a fix if there is one. it worked fine before the last update. i have made no option changes and run firefox with no addons and basically default settings as far as i know.

Why do I end up with multiple sessions/instances when I just want a new tab to be opened?

Each time I click on a link in an email or in a browser page I am getting another instance of FF opening instead of opening a new tab in the same-single instance. I can have many, many instances opens all with the a single tab of each clicked through link. It's very confusing to find the pages I want with so many open instances.

"open link in a new tab" always worked great until recently. Now, on a number of sites--at least 1 of which is a game site--FF opens a new tab that duplicates the page on which I found the link. I can go to that new tab and click the link I want there, but I'd love to get this feature working like it did before.
I have even tried using "copy link location" and pasting that location into the address bar of a new tab, but this, also, fails. I am completely at a loss to understand what's happening.
I've asked others using the same web sites if they have this problem, and they've said no. So I'm pretty sure that the problem has something to do with a setting I've changed w/o realizing that this would happen.

Whenever I open a new tab, it shows a blank page (toolbars are shown at the top, but nothing shows in the body of the screen). I then have to click the 'home' button, to bring up my homepage. Is it possible to change the settings so that when I open a new tab, my homepage appears?
