When I open Firefox, all the letters are scrambled up together so I can't read them. The pictures are intact.

I have to use a different browser (Opera) because I can't figure out anything on Firefox. I used it before, and it worked fine, but suddenly started scrambling all the words so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and that didn't help.

Sometimes Firefox is incompatible with your graphics card/chipset driver software, which can manifest itself in strange display glitches. Could you try running Firefox in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to disable the hardware acceleration features, and also deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can hold down the Shift key when launching Firefox to try that. (Note: if Firefox is already running, you can use Alt+f to drop down the File menu then X to exit.)
A small dialog ''should'' appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
Any difference?
Also, you can try pressing Ctrl+0 (that's a zero) to reset the zoom level on the current page in case zoom is a factor.

You get message "firefox is still running" and computer restart doesn't help you. Try the advice below.
Make sure Firefox isn't running (end firefox.exe process in Task Manager or restart computer)
    Find your profile folder
    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default
find file "parent.lock" in it and delete it (the file is empty, its function is to signify to Firefox whether it's already open or not).
Then try to open Firefox again. Will it start or not? What will it say?

  • When I open firefox all I get is the page outline the contents of the page is missing

For 2 days now this is all I get when I open mozilla/firefox.I can see the outside frame of the page eg:facebook. But I can't see the contents of the page,It doesn't matter what site I try to access it's the same.I have cleared my cache, cookies, defragged rebooted and nothing seems to work.I even tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and still no change.I rely on this browser for a lot of things I do.Help please!

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Internal error 500 keeps coming up when I open Firefox. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but that did not solve the problem. How can I fix this error

a message of 500 internal error comes up when I open up Firefox and I cannot do anything. How can this problem be solved? I cannot use Firefox, so I have uninstalled it because it does in work on my computer, but it does work on my desktop and other laptop. This is a new computer, so I am not understanding why this problem is occurring. When I first installed Firefox on my new laptop it worked just fine, but for about a week now it will not work.

  • I downloaded a book on iBook and when I opened it all I got was a gray screen and I can't go back to my library. Help! How do I get rid of the gray screen and go back to my library?

I downloaded a book on iBook but when I tried to open it all I got was a empty gray screen. I can't do anything. How do I go back to my library? There are no icons, nothing.... Help

If tapping the book doesn't give a button at the top left to go back to your Library, then try closing the iBooks app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with iBooks 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iBooks app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • When I open Firefox, it expands to larger than screen-size and I can't use ANY features. How can I fix this?

When I first open Firefox, it appears fine, then one second later it expands so that I cannot see any thing but the current message. The only way I seem to be able to even exit is to use the Windows Task Manager to kill the application. The other user on the same machine does not have this problem. We are both using Firefox version

  • My lists of fonts is all scrunched together and I can't read them?

Has anyone seen this before? It's a little bit annoying. It happened after I imported new fonts, I guess. It's been like this for awhile, I've just lived with it. But now, every time I import a new font, I think it's getting worse. Any thoughts?

  • I keep getting "500 Internal Server Error" when I open Firefox. I don't know why. This just began.

I recently uploaded the latest version of McAfee Security Center and the latest version of Firefox. Now when I open Firefox all I get is "500 Internal Server Error." I am now sure what do to.

There is an existing thread which might help you with this : see
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/780053
For background information, see the Wikipedia article on HTTP Codes at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes
    - and, if you want more information, there's a page explaining the 500 Error [http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E500.html HERE]
In brief, the 500 means that your request has reached the server but the server cannot process it, for some unspecified reason. It is not a client-side error message.

  • When I open Firefox a screen comes up that says register for "Inbox". I do not want to. I cannot deleate this and cannto figure out how to uninstall. Is it possible that I could speak with a live person that can help me.

    Hello BassoonPlayer,
Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using.  FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in.  This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly.  By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you.  Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that that there are no longer Firefox or plugin-container processes left on the Processes tab in the Task Manager. Otherwise session restore will reopen the page(s) from the previous session.
