You get message "firefox is still running" and computer restart doesn't help you. Try the advice below.
Make sure Firefox isn't running (end firefox.exe process in Task Manager or restart computer)
    Find your profile folder
    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default
find file "parent.lock" in it and delete it (the file is empty, its function is to signify to Firefox whether it's already open or not).
Then try to open Firefox again. Will it start or not? What will it say?

    Hi everyone!
I will be posting this in all "weird sounds topics" just so you know.
These "weird" sounds you hear are from pacman.
Today is Pacmans 30:th birthday and google wanted to celebrate by making the pacman game playable at their website "www.google.com".
You will notice that their logo is changed to pacman with the map swapped out to the text "google".
The game will probably just be here today so all noises will be gone by tomorrow. If you don't want to hear the sound today then please don't visit google or just turn your volume down.
    Yours sincerely: LAwLz

  • Music plays when I open Firefox browser

Whenever I open Firefox browser music begins playing. I have also sometimes heard non-musical audio, what sounds like a commercial.
I checked the add-ons/plug-ins list of Firefox and nothing on it seems to be the source of this problem.
I also already checked the installed programs from my computer's Control Panel. But there is nothing installed recently that would explain this unwanted audio playing upon opening Firefox.
And this unwanted audio only plays in Firefox, not when I use Internet Explorer browser. But I prefer Firefox overall, so hope I may find a remedy to this situation.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but the problem will not go away using that measure either.
And when I have tried a System Restore of my hard drive the earliest date is this morning, which does no good as this problem was also there yesterday.
My Operating System is Windows 7 64-bit. I am using an HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook PC.
Please advise on what is a solution to this issue.

Perchance, were you using a Video Downloader add-on?
Maybe a video got "stuck" in the download cache and was replaying when Firefox was opened.

when I install the program, all go good but when i open the program, it say: iTunes was not installed  correctly, Please reinstall Itunes Error 7 (windows 193), After i do this but the same

    Howdy Allux345.
After multiple installations of iTunes it can be frustrating when the issue isnt resolved. I was able to locate the following knowledge base article that specifically addresses the "Error 7" you are recieving.
iTunes for Windows: "Error 7" message when opening iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3074
The Resolution section has different steps depending on what version of the Windows Operating System you're using. Since it can be a bad installation of these Windows files, pay close attention to the instructions on repairing if the file already exhists.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities with your question.
    Cheers,

  • When I open Firefox browser, as well as my homepage opening, a new tab also opens at the same time how can I stop this please?

This problem has only just started and I don't know why. When I click the Firefox icon to open the browser, my homepage tab opens and another new tab opens up alongside my homepage tab. I have checked and the are no pipe characters in my homepage addres.

I restarted Firefox in safe mode then reset it all and it has worked, thanks for the solution.

  • Ran the 'Refresh' mode, now nothing is compatible with my version of firefox? No Add-ons, Extensions or Themes. Please help me get back to what I had.

I opened Firefox, and I had a bar along the bottom saying it needed to be optimized, so I could refresh Firefox. I understood that it would take it back to its original state, but I thought that I could add things that I wanted. But when it was "Refreshed", I could not add anything. Themes are "Not compatible with my version of Firefox". Add-ons do download, but I cannot install them. It takes me to a page that is too confusing for a non-tech person like me (a windows page that wants me to find the program that will install it). So I gave up (I also don't have alot of time to fix this). I checked for "updates" hoping that I could update the version and then add a theme, add-ons, extensions, etc. But it is up-to-date. Thank you for your help.

Normally, when you try to install an extension from the Mozilla Add-ons site, you get a progress bar that drops down temporarily from the address bar, and then a pop-up dialog asking you to approve the installation. Do you get either of those or just nothing happens?
    As an example: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/
Could you test with the avast! extension disabled in case it is blocking these normal actions? You can do that on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then find avast! on the right side and click Disable.
Often a link will appear above a disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any difference? Are other sites still a problem?

  • When I open Firefox, it opens my last tab instead of my homepage.

When I open Firefox browser, it opens the very last tab I had open instead of my homepage. It's getting very annoying since I can't figure out why or how to fix it.
~I have not installed any new software, search engines, or add-ons recently that would have caused this to happen.
~I have checked control panel > uninstall programs (searched by date added) to see if there were any unwanted addware or plug-ins that were installed, and I did not see any.
~I've played with the preferences by setting it to "Show my home page", "Show a blank page", and "Show my windows and tabs from last time". But nothing changes.
~I've done a few searches on the internet to see if anyone else has had this problem, or if there are any solutions I could find, but I can't find anything that sounds like my problem. Especially since this started happening right around the time Firefox updated to 31.0 (was it on 7/30/14? something like that). Although I must admit that it seems like it was acting up before that....but maybe not.
It's getting a bit frustrating that I can't figure out why it's doing this, or how to fix the problem. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to finding a solution.
    Thanks!

You can check if you have a <b>user.js</b> file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.
Note that Windows hides some file extensions by default.
Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see file name without file extension.
You can see the real file type (file extension) in the properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • When i open firefox, vista is asking me if i want updates.

I have never had this happen, when I open firefox, the usual program vista stuff happens and askes me if I want to do this... wtf?
    This never happend before.

Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator).
Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.<br />
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".<br />
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.<br />
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.<br />

  • When I open Firefox, the browser does not open. Instead I get a small window that says: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined. How do I fix this?

I tried to uninstall AVG antiviral software, but it did not uninstall. Next, when I try to open Firefox I get a box popup that says:
    TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined.
If I click OK in that box, I can then open Firefox.
Also I can no longer update Java.
    Help!

Possibly you have "AVG Safe search" extension installed as part of "AVG Free", solution involves reinstalling :AVG Free" without the Link Scanner component see
