When I open Firefox in my laptop, I get an alert message that says that "It could not initialize the applications security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory, etc"

This morning it was working fine, but I tried to put 2 addons, "adblock" and "Forcastfox Weather" .
I have both of this addons in my Desktop as well as in Ubuntu. The problem is in Windows XP

I uninstalled the browser and download a new version but it does not resolve the issue.
I know my hard disc has ample space. I do NOT know where to find the Profile directory to fix the read restriction box.

This is an Alert when I open the browser. It isn't functioning at all. I've cleared ample space on my C drive, but I cannot find the application's profile directory to check the read/write restrictions.

Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using. FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in. This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly. By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you. Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

So every time I close and relaunch Firefox, I have to sign in with my username and password. Very very, annoying. If I can't get this corrected, I have to start using another Browser. It suggests the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
