When i open firefox it runs in background but does not open. if i disable the internet connection immediately it opens. each and every time i do this when i start work. what kind of problem is this

i am using windows xp profession sp3 os
when i open firefox it runs in background but does not open(see through task manager or one message "firefox is already running in background" when i again click the icon.)

I had the same problem and it was because of my firewall settings, which I had set to block all activity and forgot to reset it.

As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.

I keep on losing my tabs and i am getting seriously frustrating as i need them to open each and every time i open firefox 4, i have tabs mix plus. why does this keep on happening? please help as i am a student and i need help with this..

i have now installed too many tabs 1.3.3 to see if that will fix problem.
but yes each and every time i use firefox, not googlechrome, or ie or opera but only firefox 4 and having used tabs mix plus before i never had a problem.
but now with firefox beta and now the full release, the issue is still arising. evrytime i open firefox i close my eyes and wait for it to load... and load... when it does open, i open my eyes and lo and behold my tabs are gone.
thats it please help guys, i love firefox for many reasons i dont want to use opera.

Open Activity Monitor and look for the program. Select it and Quit or Force quit it from within Acitiviy Monitor.
Search for the application with Find Any File as it can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, system folders and packages. You can drag the app and any associated files from the search result window to the Trash bin in the Dock.

All information in autoexec.nt exists as windows 98 and I run it from command line.

I'm going through **** here, using a spanish key board, to lay down fonts, using FCP X, each and every time the "accent" mark is need over a letter, FCP X shuts down...this is the most feckless system I've worked with in years!!

Each and every time I need to use an accent above a letter...FCP X shuts down. What is going on with this system? The most feckless piece of soffware ever!! Ready to pull out the old tower G4 and cut on the FCP 7...

Also, as you well know in Spanish, the "accent" does "slice" either way. Over vowels, such as "a" and "o"...

Any app that uses internet closes immediately after opening, app crashes. Safari opens fine and can use the internet. iPod software is up-to-date.

I cannot open a new tab - when I restart firefox (or my computer), ctrl T does not work, and the "+" tab next to the single tab on my browser window does NOT open a second tab

Firefox3.6.18, running on WinXP (all the Microsoft patches), opens with a single tab. Clicking the Add Tab "+" or pressing CTRL T does not open a new tab, although I can open a new window. Also, when exiting from Firefox, my tab location is not saved.

Please disable or uninstall the Ask toolbar extension to solve your problem. It has a known incompatibility with Firefox. See [[Uninstalling add-ons]].

In application builder the top level vi is always set to "run when opened"; how do I turn this off so I don't have to change it each and every time I build a .exe??

I build a lot of executables using Application Builder under LabVIEW and in every one I build, I don't want the top level vi to take off and run when I open the executable. Currently, I edit each .exe I build within Application Builder and change the option of "run when opened" from Yes to No for the top level vi. All the other subvi's are already set to No. It would seem as though there should be some way to "turn this off" if you will so the top level vi is not always set to "run when opened" by default within Application Builder. Is there such a solution that anyone knows of?? Any help would be apprec

Indeed the Application builder forces "run when opened" to true for top levels VIs. If you don't want your VI to make any real work when the application starts, you should simply put a do-nothing loop in the beginning of the VI that will loop until the user presses a boolean. It will be more intuitive for users to press a Run button on the FP than clicking on the white Run arrow in the bar.

Firefox 4 downloads, extracts files, but does not install - menu pops up to close Firefox, although this was done

Firefox 4 downloads successfully;when I press the button to let it run, the files are all successfully extracted, but when the installation menu pops up an interim bar specifies "checking existing installation" - this is then followed by a pop up menu instructing to close Firefox. The problem is that Firefox has already been closed and I cannot get passed the command menu to close Firefox in order for the installation to commence and complete.

The next step I would recommend is to do some troubleshooting(Safe Mode,Problematic Extensions etc) -

Just to make sure you can get started in Firefox Safe Mode - Hold the Shift key down as you double click on the Firefox icon, ignore the page that opens and Continue. Firefox isn't the only thing that has been updated and new conflicts and culprits can emerge.
I would also recommend a search of your computer to make sure no residue of "Conduit" remains.
