Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.

It's Pac-Man's 30th Birthday today, and Google's homepage is a playable Pac-Man game around the Google logo. My boyfriend had the same problem, then I went to Google and was like Hey, it's Pac-Man! And then the siren started. He plays fine on my laptop, but for some reason the music is stuck on his computer.
All you have to do is disable the "Cool Previews" add on for firefox. Go to the "Tools" link at the top of the browser, go down to "Add Ons", go to the "Cool Previews", click "Disable". Then restart firefox and it should be fine!

  • When I open Firefox, I'm prompted to create a profile, but every time I click the create profile button, the window opens and immediately shuts.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled mozilla several times. I've read online about looking for a profile.ini file, that file does not exist on my computer. Everytime I open firefox, the choose user profile box appears, and when I click create profile, a window opens and immediately closes.

If even the Mozilla folder isn't there then it is possible that Firefox already crashes before being able to create that folder structure.
Try to do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • When I open firefox, it won't load any sites, and it won't let use the drop downs, I have to force quit --running os 10.6.7

Was using firefox this am, working fine, I tried to open a new tab while I was uploading a file, it froze. I restarted the computer---same problem. reinstalled firefox--same problem. am having to write this in safari because I can start firefox up, but it just hangs, and I have to force quit

i'm using firefox 3.6.13 and windows XP home SP3. when i visit zynga poker at facebook.com it turn slowly to open the application. when i try to navigate away, firefox does not respond. when i close the firefox and try to reopen it, i get nothing. i have to physically go into the task manager and end the firefox.exe process manually before i can go back. i have tried to uninstall and then reinstall firefox, but it didn't work, i tried also to sending the crash report from crashreporter.exe, the warning box said: "This application is run after a crash to report the problem to the application vendor. It should not be run directly", what should i do?

  • When I open Firefox (with Google as home page), I get prompted to save a file (application/octet-stream)

This is my mother's computer. It's an HP Pro something. It has Win 7 Pro and Firefox is up to date. I'm not sure when this started because she doesn't use it every day. We can't get to Google at all using Firefox. I even tried a new tab just now and I get prompted to save a file (earlier the file it is prompting to save is NFRC_FLE13007-1A-RD_3300_SN_CIG_IS20_i89.pdf [the two dashes might be underscores - can't read my own writing!] Now it doesn't show me the file name). I tried using bing to search for this file name and didn't get any results.
I already tried clearing the cache and also resetting the browser using CTRL-F5. I've rebooted after that too. No changes...
I have not cleared cookies - I think she relies on a lot of them and I don't want to get her more confused!
Also, I've set up a number of "shortcuts" on her desktop so she can go directly to some websites. One is for Yahoo, one is for WebMD, etc. When I click on these, I do not have the issue. Seems to be related only to Google. Okay, just tried Google Maps and the same thing happens... And same thing happens with GMail. I captured the window, see the attachments..
    Thanks!
p.s. I occasionally (on my computer) get prompted to save a file in Firefox when I hit the back button. I just say cancel and then do it again and everything is fine. I don't know if this is related either. I have Win 8.1 on a Lenovo laptop.

Try to boot the computer in [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows Safe Mode with network support] (press F8 on the boot screen) open firefox and see if that happens again.

  • Why when I open my Foscam camera, in Activex mode, I get no picture, and I click on Manage at bottom, but ger javascript:adminstrator0. Why

My Foscam FI8910W, opens after sign in, with three modes to choose from. Only the ActiveX mode, in IE, works to allow recordings to be made. Sometime back, just after I bought this new laptop, a free AT&T program with McAfee, is available for AT&T users. But this app, can only be loaded into Internet Explorer, and something wrong with IE, prevented it from happening. I contacted AT&T Tech support, allowed the tech onto my machine, and even he could not solve it. He then opened Firefox I already had, and installed some program, that made Firefox actually act like IE, so that McAfee software, could be downloaded and installed. It worked, using Firefox to replace IE, to download and install, but the print spooler on my pc, went bad, and would not work to use my printer. Dell tech also took control of the pc, found a complete Windows 7 reinstall was needed, and he did so. Now, the print spooler works, but the fresh install, did away with the software the AT&T Tech added to Firefox.
IE is a pain, but we need it, for some sites, like for the Activex mode, with my camera. I tried pening it in Firefox, in the ActiveX mode, and it opens, but with no picture. When I click on Device Management, to go to settings, I can't. What I get, is a small pop up balloon on lower right, that says 'javascript:administrator0'. Thinking maybe Javascript was disabled, I checked in options, and it is not, it's checked, thus enabled. I am on my pc, as administrator, so now I am stuck. Is there someone who can explain how to make it work, so I can use my camera in ActiveX mode, so I can actually record tings, if need be, when I leave? Thanks in advance. Oh, My Win 7, has the 64 bit OS, not the 32 if that helps.

Thanks for that reply. I know ActiveX is only used on Internet Explorer. But as I previously stated, the AT&T Tech who helped me download McAfee, that their website only allows downloads with Internet Explorer, and for some reason, IE wasn't working right, so McAfee was not available, but the Tech got control of my pc, installed some sort of software program, onto Firefox, that gave Firefox the same options, as IE has. When that was done, I was able to download and install McAfee, using Firefox, instead of using IE. Since then, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 OS on my pc, so IE now works, but is still a bother using it to RECORD from the Foscam camera. Internet Explorer, is the ONLY BROWSER, that Foscam RECORDS ON, using the ActiveX mode. I can view things with the camera, in Chrome, Firefox, Opera and such, using another choice, the USER PUSH MODE, but that and the other choice, Mobile Phone, will ONLY let you watch or monitor what is being shown, but you CAN NOT RECORD, if it's not in ActiveX mode, using IE. I hoped, that whatever the technician used and installed on my pc, to fool the web into allowing something to be installed, by FIREFOX, and not by Internet Explorer as it was set up to do, would also allow Firefox to ACT like IE again, and allow the ActiveX mode, to work in Firefox. Really, what I am looking for, is probably a patch, that adds IE abilities and runs like IE, to maybe get the ActiveX aspect, to use in Firefox. Maybe I am asking a lot, but I know Firefox worked as if it was IE, to fool the site into allowing it to 'THINK' Firefox, was really Internet Explorer. As for asking Foscam for technical support, I did, and not only did the foreigner get access to my computer, made changes, the changes he made, I had to uninstall, and reinstall the Foscam camera. Outsourcing tech support, doesn't help me much, when it's with someone, that ENGLISH, is not their native language. If I can't understand someone speaking to me, isn't very good in trying to get help. Again, thanks for your reply.

  • Firefox crashes when I open in both regular and safe mode, i am on windows vista help!

    The crash ID is
    bp-319da289-3ff9-4ac8-943a-c15462110923

The problem began because my computer had to be sent in because it wouldnt turn on so i had to get it fixed they replaced the motherboard this was the second time the motherboard was replaced and once they did that my firefox hasnt worked the same. I can go on google chrome but thats not what i prefer to use.
& when i right click on firefox it says troubleshoot so im assuming its built in to my computer. im not sure.
I tried the profile manager to create a new profile and that has seemed to work so far. No crashing but it does freeze when i got to facebook and then i have to click ctr alt delete to open task manager to end firefox. It happened twice, the third time i went to google, then twitter and it didnt freeze. I then went to youtube and it froze. So Facebook and youtube make it freeze. Any idea why it does that?

  • When I open Firefox (latest version) in Windows 7, I get multiple windows, none of which open up my previous session.

I have a new HP laptop, with which I had no problem at first, but now, every time I try to log on to Firefox ( default) at least 4 and up to 14 Firefox windows open, none of which contain my previous session despite my home page being "open with previous tabs". I can't find any way to stop this happening.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • I need assistance my firefox is stuck in safe mode even when i already restarted everything.

My firefox is stuck in the safe mode and i am unable to return to the regular mode. I have tried restarting as suggested but it is still in safe mode. How can i return to the regular mode?

Please kill all instances of firefox in Process/Task Manager/Monitor, whatever it's called on MacOS, and/or reboot the whole system. Then please try to launch Firefox as you usually do, via desktop shortcut or programs menu, which should start it in normal mode.

  • Firefox has gone into safe mode. what happened and how do i fix it?

when i loaded firefox it went into safe mode and now firefox is useless

How do you know it is in Safe Mode?
Normally closing Firefox - Firefox button>Exit or File>Exit - and waiting a few seconds before re-opening should put you back into Normal Mode.
If not, check with Task Manager and close Firefox if it is still running.
Please sign in when you report back on progress. You may need to do some troubleshooting. Full system details would help.

  • Has anyone tried installing BC2.1 for Vista 64-bit in the Safe mode?

Before I go ahead, has anyone attempted to install the BC2.1 64-bit update for Vista using the Safe mode?
The thought occurred to me earlier, and before I bothered, I was wondering if it had been tried yet by anyone?
As with most others with Vista 64 bit, the exe runs, asks for permission and then dies. Not even a whimper

I attempted to install the BC2.1 in the safe mode, but it still did nothing.
In the normal mode, viewing the Task Manager, when I click the update, after a long while the Task Manager shows a message, something to the effect, "BC2.1.exe is waiting for administrator approval."
After I check the box in the approval window that it's OK to run, the warning in the Task Manager disappears and nothing reappears, meaning the process died.
The system logs don't show very much, but I did not bother too much with them.
This is an issue that Apple has to address. I am confident that they will.
Meanwhile I will post a note on the developers board about it.
    http://developer.apple.com/contact/
I presume when it's fixed, the update will show up in the Apple Software Update window, just as the XP update appeared on my other MBP.
Until then, it's just a bit annoying.

  • When I open FireFox i get the blue screen of death and then vista restarts. I get to login and then afterthe welcome window it crashes and restarts again. I can open in safe mode but if I open firefox again it restarts this loop.

The other day I opened firefox after the latest update in September. Firefox then closes and then i get logged off and vista(32 bit) restarts. I get back to login and when I try to login it gives me the blue screen and restarts again with the selection screen (start in safe mode....)I was able to login on safe mode and then on admin afterwards. Thinking the problem was just an error I went back and opened firefox on my account and the loop started again. I was forced to remove firefox but I want ti back and I want to know how this can be fixed so I can put it back on my computer.

See below -- the way I asked the question the first time may not be clear. This post was a goof but I can't figure out how to delete it
