When i open itunes it just instantly closes, what should i do?

I click the itunes icon and itunes opens up then, instanly closes and says i tunes quit unexpectedly. what should i do?

Try this:
1. Quit iMovie
2. Restart the Mac
3. Repair permissions (open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utilities folder), select Macintosh HD and choose repair Permissions from the buttons displayed
4. Move iMovie preferences (or trash them). They're at <your usenrame>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovieApp.pList (the name might vary slightly, depending, but will always start com.apple.iMovie...)
5. Delete the iMovie cache (in <your username>/Library/Caches, called com.apple.iMovieApp or similar. Delete the whole folder
6. Restart the Mac.
Hopefully, that will fix it

Well I was able to successfully revert back to iTunes8. Here's my steps:
    1. In Add/Remove Programs I deleted all Apple products (iTunes, QuickTime, Safari, Bonjour, etc.)
    2. I then check C:\Program Files\ and made sure all folders were deleted (QuickTime, etc.)
    3. I then ran a Registry Cleaner program to make sure all entries from Apple products were removed.
    4. I then rebooted my PC
    5. I then downloaded iTunes8.0.2 from here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/ipod_itunes/itunes802forwindows.html
    6. After it installed it said it could use my iTunes library file because it was created with a newer version. So I re-created my library by following these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
It took some time but iTunes is now back up and running. And I have all my playlists, etc. I haven't tried to sync anything yet. I'm just thrilled to have my iTunes back!

Having the same issue here....a quick fix is to just minimize the window, and immediately maximize it.  It will now fit the screen.  Trouble is, after you close it, you'll have to do it again when you re-start itunes.  The good news is it takes all of about 2 seconds.  Apple should fix this.  Should.

  • When I open iTunes, it opens for about a milisecond, then closes.

As in the title, when I open iTunes on my Dell computer, it closes before I am able to do anything. It was working fine one night when I logged off and the next morning it was not working. I have tried re-installing, and changing firewall ports, and nothing seems to work. I tried reverting to an earlier version and the same thing happened.
This same problem occurs if I try and open any Quicktime application. Could someone help? Thanks.

Sounds like you have that nasty malware going around.

Tried the un-install and getting the same problem although it takes a bit longer before it crashes this time. Checked the problem report and it looks the same as the previous reports.

I created a new library so I can use it for just my music, but now my ipod will only sync to my old library and not the new one I created, even though I'm in the new library when I open itunes.  Any solutions?

The point is that there are four i product users for one computer in my house, and not everyone wants the same music on their device.  Like I said before, the ipod is not syncing to the new library even though I plug it in when the new itunes library is pulled up.  It keeps syncing to the old library...

  • When I open itunes theres a message and then closes

When I open Itunes there's a message that says unknown error -45054 and the only option is to click okay and when I do it closes, why is that happening and what can I do to stop it. I'd appreciate any help

Open the iPhoto Library package as shown in this screenshot:
Look for a folder named "Importing" or "Import" (not Auto Import) and move it to the Desktop. Launch iPhoto and see if the message is gone.  If it is look in that folder and see if the image file(s) in there are any you want to preserver.  If so import them from the Desktop.

  • When I open iTunes the store won't connect.  It just keeps going as if it is trying to connect but never does.

When I open iTunes it gets "stuck" trying to connect to the store. It just keeps trying and keeps trying. Can anyone help?

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

I think we might try the following document with that one, madubc:
iTunes 10.2 for Windows: Quits unexpectedly with "Unknown software exception (0xc0000409)" alert
(The theory with that procedure with installing Safari 5.0.5 is that it updates your Apple Application Support. Apple Application Support contains single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs (such as iTunes, QuickTime and Safari) so the effect of updating it is that iTunes and QuickTime program files will also be updated.)

hello!!! i've just updated osx to 10.8.5 and itunes to 11.1.1 when i open itunes it crashes continuously!!! pls help!!!

Asking me what I think is not what really matters here. What do you think? Do you want to wait for another update to iTunes in order to sync or backup your iPad again? That could be weeks down the road - no telling when it may be updated.
Why dont you go through this support article and see if any of this stuff helps you? The article is for Windows users.

Here is something very simple to try. Quit iTunes and restart your computer. Then restart your iPad and try to sync/connect again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

While it is clearly the wifi syncing that is causing it, the device almost never shows up in the device list, and I've already unchecked that box.  I have two devices that I'd love to wifi sync, but neither show up today on the device list, despite iTunes continually popping up every 5 minutes or so.  Buggy...
