When i open my computer the login page comes up and then goes dark right away. i have to shut down and turn on to get to work. just a month old mbp 15. just started it today. any suggestions. software says it is up to date.

You could try wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the OS and all your programs.
Did you install any programs yesterday?
If not it may be best to take it to an Apple care center and have it checked out. Take it in while it is asleep so you ccan show then what is happening.

My MAC keeps looking for networks? The ICON in menu bar when clicked shows the WI-FI (in grey) it keeps shuting off and disconnecting. Any Ideas???
Test after taking each of the following steps. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions.
2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
6. In some cases, the problem has been resolved by repairing permissions on the startup volume.
7. Reinstall OS X. -
When I open Firefox my yahoo home page comes up very odd and not usable. If I log into my e-mail it also comes up odd and not usable. (the tools across the top like delete etc don't show up.) If I go to a different browser and pull up yahoo it is fine, if I log on to my mail there it also comes up fine and usable. If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

I use Mountain Lion on a macbook Air. When it goes to sleep it wakes up with a blank screen, I have to shut down and start up again to wake it up. Can anyone help?
I had a similar thing on an old MacBook Pro where if I closed the lid, then reopened it before the sleep cycle took over, it would have a blank screen. I had to close the lid until the power light pulsed, then it would wake normally.

Updated to IOS6 and now my apps will not update on the Ipad2. I have to delete them and then re-install. But I have several hundred apps and this is cumbersome. Seems the new software is too buggy. I am telling people not to update software yet.
Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

When I open my computer, the screen shuts off.
I am currently running OS X Lion. There are no system updates. My macbook pro JUST started doing this. It never did it before. When I shut my computer and let it sit for however long and then open my computer, the screen comes on, and then about 5 seconds after that, the screen goes blank. In order to turn my screen on, I have to adjust the brightness on my keyboard EVERY single time. Please help me!

Have new imac 2.5 mid 2011 OS X and macmail has a few times started to lag.....slow to accept writing and the rainbow spins and seems to stop it. have to shut down to get it back to normal. Very frustrating when in the middle of a message. Any ideas whats wrong ....whats happening...how to fix...Also a sender rang me to see if I forwarded their email on, and said that particular email had been opened 140 times.......I did not send on....any ideas about that one also.

I'm not sure what is wrong with your Mail system but I'd recommend starting over with it. You can find out how in Mail Setup, Troubleshooting etc... If you still have trouble then contact AppleCare, you have 90 days of free phone service with AppleCare......why not use it? -
Sorry first post in this forum. I can log on to Yahoo email, read a few emails and then the infamous multi-colored spinning wheel appears and I end up having to shut down and cycle back in again. I have a 2011 MacBookPro 17 not quite a year and it just started acting up this way. Any suggestions. Thanx.

When I open firefox, nothing shows up but an empty browser. The web area is completely black and if I right click to open up the little menu, that is also black. The top of the browser is empty and none of the menu buttons appear, none of my bookmarks appear, and none of the search bars or anything appear. Firefox was working fine and then the next time I started my laptop up this is what I experienced. There is absolutely nothing I can do in Firefox. If I right click the top menu area, the smaller menu is completely black but if I click around in it I can see it adding and removing my toolbars and such but I still cannot see anything besides black space and empty space.
hello, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem.
