Do you have repeat on? You can check this in now playing screen. Tap once at the centre of the screen, make sure the leftmost icon below scrub bar is not blue in color.

ipod will not display track and artist name when i play a song... i cant see the the volume display to adjust it eiether. Everyting shows up in the menus just not on the now playing screen.... any suggestions?

Try restoring your iPod. Just be aware that restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. As it goes now, one clicks on the song in the new playlist where the arrow is and then chooses 'Play Song Next.' So, it plays next, but then the song after that is back in the old playlist. I want to use iTunes smoothly without the extra clicks I've had to do in order to get the playlist to continue. This is music for background while I play the violin at restaurants, and extra clicks and hassle is quite unappreciated, especailly since it worked fine in the previous iTunes.

At the top of the playlist where it shows the playlist title and the number of songs, there are two icons. Click the "play" triangle to add the entire playlist to "Up Next", or the "shuffle" symbol to do the same thing but in random order. But the currently playing track will stop playing, and all the songs in "Up Next" will be removed (replaced by the ones from this playlist).
If you hold down the "option" key while clicking those icons, the currently playing song will continue playing, and the new playlist will be added to "Up Next" (above the songs that were already there).

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entries, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

It is downloaded, and yes it takes up space and can eventually fill up your iPad. It's supposed to delete older tracks as the music app plays new ones and space gets low, but other apps won't delete songs and free up the space. So if you were going to say use the camera app and it was full of music you would have to delete songs manually.

Generally, in iTunes, all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist to keep things together. For older iPods each track from the same album should have the same artist, or be marked as a compilation where appropriate. For iOS devices you may need to go to Settings > Music > Group By Album Artist > On.

Hi, llmrfan.
I have experienced this as well. Usually it is something simple in the metadata that iTunes recognizes as different. Try selecting all the songs at once in that album and get info on multiple tracks. At that point you can mark them as part of a compilation. The article below walks you through this process.

The iTunes application saves your iTunes Store purchases--as well as any music, audiobooks, or videos you import--to your computer's hard disk, not the iTunes application itself.
The error message you note indicates that the purchase in question can’t be located where it is stored in your iTunes Music folder in order to play it, and may have been moved or deleted.
You will need to help iTunes locate the file. Follow the steps in this article:
